This arrived today!! Took a little while to get here (had a customs sticker on it!) but it’s in one piece and I’m looking forward to hanging it on the wall with the other @hmmawards (and HIMA) nomination plaques.. but in the meantime will sit in the trophy shelf (!)
This was a co-nomination with @madeleine.chaplain for a song “Take It” that we co-wrote and produced for Quamby Studios @quambystudios short film “The Bank Manager”

My “Planning a Soundtrack for a Film” masterclass is now live on YouTube!
In this session I take you behind the scenes of my work on the 1906 silent film The Story of the Kelly Gang — looking at how I approached planning the soundtrack, building the score and sound design, working with themes, pacing, historical context and bringing more than a century-old film to life for a modern audience.
It’s a look at the thinking that happens before and during the composing process — from spotting the film and mapping out musical ideas through to sound effects, gunshots, atmosphere and the final soundtrack.
If you’re a film composer, media composer, sound designer or interested in audio post-production, I hope there are some useful ideas in there for your own projects.

This little studio hack is already making my life easier.
I’ve got two workstations, so I wanted an easy way to move my controllers and smaller gear between them without constantly unplugging, carrying and rearranging everything.
So… I built a trolley. It’s not perfect, and it’s slightly wobbly 😄 but it works — and now everything I need is right there when I want to move between setups.
Sometimes the simplest studio upgrades are the ones that make the biggest difference.

Do you think about your dream studio often?

It’s time for me to expand and rethink mine.

1. Built a new trolley so I can move controllers and gear between workstations.
2. Time to redesign the whole space so my workstations, mics, guitars, PA and music gear can all live together in one large room.
3. New wall color and flooring needs to be imagined!.
4. And finally… time to add that 5.1 monitoring setup.

Creating a studio isn’t just about the gear — it’s about building a space that makes you want to create.

This year I’ve been really lucky to have the opportunity to mix and master a series of Expedia travel videos. I’ve learnt so much along the way, and it’s been a great chance to keep refining my mixing and mastering chops.

I’m currently doing a weekly #musicproduction course for #ableton I’ve always just followed my nose and used effects via trial and error and presets but I’m relearning the basics properly now. Today part of the session was talking about delay but i wanted to know more about what delays to use for #pop and #edm #vocal so i did up this summary chart as my starter guide. Really lovely to be featured in CanvasRebel @canvasrebel and have the chance to reflect on how my work in music and sound has evolved over the years. 🎶🎬
My first film music opportunity actually began with a Craigslist ad in Los Angeles. I was asked to replace a temporary song in a short film, wrote and recorded an original track, it was accepted… and I was completely hooked on composing for film.
Since then, my work has grown across film, television, travel content, music production, sound design and audio mixing. One thing that has become increasingly important to me is thinking beyond just the music — considering the entire sonic world of a project and how music, dialogue, ambience and sound design can work together to tell the story.
The article also touches on one of my favourite projects from this year: creating a completely new score and sound design for The Story of the Kelly Gang (1906) for the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, along with a behind-the-scenes masterclass exploring the creative process.
I also talk about how new opportunities have come through visibility, relationships and word of mouth, what I’ve learned from managing creative teams, and where I’d like to take my work next — particularly more music production and song collaboration with women artists.
