I am a believer that our friends are the family we choose.

We chose each other in 1990, and somehow we keep choosing each other, 36 years later.

Three countries. Three daughters and more. Countless memories.

Life has moved with us, it’s brought all of the joy and darkness to each of us, but one thing has never changed, we’ve always been there for each other.

My wish for Gemma, Cate and Millie isn’t that they have hundreds of friends. It’s that they find one or two people who truly see them, cheer for them, challenge them, forgive them, and stay (as long as we have or longer).

Because that’s the kind of friendship that changes a life.

P.S. Our Singapore reunion did remind us of one thing… we don’t quite have the stamina we did in 1990! 😂 So here’s hoping Gemma, Cate and Millie make us proud after they turn 18—staying out later than we can, dancing longer than we managed, and creating the kind of lifelong friendships that bring them back together 36 years from now.

Happy Father’s Day to one of the best and to all the dads, step dads and fathers who tell the bad jokes and love their children as much as this one does. Missing my own and forever grateful to have found one of the best 💕 by @jacrowan

We imagined a remote holiday destination where we could make memories together. We definitely did not appreciate the raw magic that this amazing destination would work on us all.

Everyday leaves you in awe of this country, its size, history and people.

Uluru is a spiritual place and Kata Tjuṯa (many heads) is an incredible conglomerate of domes that seem like something from the pages of a Dr Zeus book.

The landscape is mesmerizing. We are leaving planning our return to the Outback, there is more to see than we could fit in all our lifetimes.

Cate and I looked up how many times New Zealand would fit into Australia and it’s a staggering 29 times!

My Dads Akubra hat was always on him when he traveled Australia and New Zealand. Wearing it felt like bringing him with us.

I asked the family for their favorite bits and their answers were as follows…

The Field of Lights. Uluru at Sunrise. Learning the Stars of our Southern Hemisphere at night on the Astro Tour. Walking Walpa Gorge and Kata Tjuta at Sunset.

Nanas best bit was doing it all with us and having her on this trip was the best memory made. 🏜️
