Este videoarte reúne una secuencia de 18 fotografías realizadas por Jorge Andrés Castillo durante las primeras dos horas de una sesión de seis horas de DR.MUUSICA en Miami Sound Bar.

Las imágenes, registradas entre las 8 y las 10 PM, documentan la labor del selector frente a las tornamesas: buscar, escuchar, decidir y establecer conexiones entre discos mientras la sesión sucede en tiempo real.

A partir de este archivo fotográfico, Muu Blanco construye un slideshow audiovisual que transforma el registro documental en una pieza de videoarte: una sucesión de instantes, gestos, discos y movimientos alrededor del acto de seleccionar música.

Durante esas primeras horas, DR.MUUSICA desarrolla un recorrido entre Latin Soul, Boogaloo, Salsa, Afro-Cuban Sound, Funk y Son, conectando grabaciones realizadas entre 1930 y finales de los años ochenta.

Nueva York, Puerto Rico, Cuba y Venezuela aparecen y desaparecen sobre la tornamesa.

No existe una cronología lineal.

Una grabación de 1968 puede conducir a 1975.
1930 puede aparecer en medio de la salsa de los setenta.
Nueva York puede desembocar en Caracas y regresar al Caribe.

Esa es la práctica del selector: escuchar relaciones entre discos, épocas, ciudades, músicos y ritmos.

Vinilo como archivo.
La tornamesa como instrumento.
La fotografía como registro.
El video como memoria.
La selección como práctica.

Today, we celebrate 20 years of Arts Connection with the voices that have been part of this journey. ✨

Artist and photographer Jorge Castillo shares how Arts Connection played a key role in his integration into the United States’ cultural landscape.

Shortly after arriving in the country, he began collaborating with the foundation, documenting its activities, including the Miami New Media Festival, exhibitions, and projects related to the Arts Connection collection. Over the years, this work has contributed to building a remarkable visual archive of the organization and its artistic community.

His testimony also highlights the importance of preserving cultural memory through documentation and visual archives.

Thank you, Jorge, for helping us build and preserve this story.

This year we celebrate 20 years of Arts Connection.
Two decades connecting art, artists, and communities through projects, exhibitions, festivals, residencies, archives, and opportunities for creators from different parts of the world.

What began as an initiative to support contemporary art has grown into an international platform for encounter, experimentation, and collaboration, where artists, curators, researchers, and audiences share a common belief:
art is a force that connects cultures, ideas, and people.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing testimonials from artists, collaborators, and allies who have been part of this journey and have grown alongside Arts Connection.

A Full House!

An nice evening unfolded with a captivating lecture by architect and photographer Victoria Murillo @victoriamurilloart , followed by a dynamic panel conversation hosted by IDA – Interamerican Designers Association @idaconnectus , and DORCAM – Doral Contemporary Art Museum @doralmuseum

Victoria shared her project, “The Creation of an Icon,” presenting the cultural and emotional impact of Frank Gehry’s Biomuseo in Panama—a landmark that redefined both landscape and identity.

What followed was a rich and inspiring discussion, entirely in Spanish, among an exceptional group of colleagues and friends who brought their own perspectives and passions to the table:
