Sharing more on @fox5dc @marissamtchll the story of how The Leadership Labyrinth was unearthed. A dear friend and mentor aka friendtor who formally ran the Women’s Initiatives at Estee Lauder once asked me what I was doing with the extraordinary conversations I was privileged to have with women leaders across industries. The honest answer was: not enough. I had spent years interviewing women in the C-suite — on stages, at conferences, in private settings, and representing them at our firm — and I realized those insights were too valuable to remain transient. Two years ago K.M. sent me a monogrammed journal with a handwritten note encouraging me to “take the next step on you book.” It felt symbolic. It was a call to steward those stories more responsibly. I then spent a full year and 17 of my vacation days intentionally interviewing 25 women in senior leadership asking them about their journey of how they go to now, the doubt, burnout, reinvention, sacrifice, and longevity of their roles. The book is lived experience from women in roles at companies like Rare Beauty, UNICEF, Framebridge, Salt & Sundry, H&M, Revlon, Sam’s Club, ESPN, JP Morgan, Forbes and more. After our summer on the West coast (Jasper and I for a month) today Charles returned after 2 months away and Gigi 6 weeks. It was strange being separated as a family for part of that time, but Jasper and I had a beautiful time together, escaped for the @wanderwildfamilyretreats and Gigi lived her best well kept life with her grandparents and aunt @elizsmll solo. Sisters reunited. Welcome home Georgina and @10chaz by @jadefloyddc

Lessons from The Leadership Labyrinth Book. Life is a rotating whee. One quarter, you might be all in on your health and wellness, while the next quarter, you might be all in on a big campaign or goal at work and eating just enough to sustain you and leaving little time for workouts. Another quarter, you might be focused on getting your child off to college, going through a divorce, or perhaps caregiving for a parent with an unexpected health issue. All of these seasons, across one year, can be true and difficult to navigate. Acknowledging that you can’t give 100 percent to every area of your life simultaneously is liberating. It’s okay for some areas to take precedence while others take a back seat temporarily.
