‘When one door is closed, don’t you know another is open’

I began my radio journey here in my home city at 19 in 2010 at an alternative radio station I’d grown up listening/calling.
After a decade I lost my evenings radio show and dreams of being a music director after programming radio for several years, to pandemic cuts.
3 years later I was contact about getting back into radio but this time on a CHR format.

This format has been so incredibly fun to radio in and learn/challenge myself. I’ve been fill in on Virgin and traffic weather fill in for CFAX, front desk, podcast editor to promo assistant along with my weekend shows. ‘Jade of all trades’ is my nickname at Bell.

@josh_hylden has become a great friend of mine over the years and we’ve always had a natural banter/could trap you in a long convo of a variety of topics/facts/lore 🥴

If you’ve followed me since my early radio days, I honestly can’t thank you enough for still being here. Supporting my journey and never leaving despite where I’ve landed. To the new friends I’ve made along the way from dog care, retail to new radio beginnings

My phone’s photo app recognized Sal and created this video. It captures at least the last several years of Sal 🧡 you can see how much he’s aged over just the last couple years especially.
Our Sal was such a trooper, the most flexible personality and emotional intelligence beyond a typical cats capacity.
My old roomies would tell me Sal sat at the door a few mins before I got home. I entered the building from 2nd we were on the 1st, 4 apartments down the hall.
No matter the time, he could smell and sense me coming. 🐱 by @jadejustjade

5 years ago we had to help Charlie across the rainbow bridge
I don’t have any regrets in our final time, I just wish we got more days together.

Today’s cute and fluffy friends are Dandelion and Petunia!

10 week old, Cautious but curious little kittens that enjoy play time and snuggles.

This month has been life altering.
My gramma gave me this collection for dad’s slide show, still collecting more.. hits in tidal waves. I see myself and my son in all these faces of my dad.
My dad was one of my best friends always, we would sit and talk for hours. He would be there at the drop of a hat for me. I would spend hours sitting on his garage stool, feet hanging off, asking him questions and watching superman on his black and white tiny tv.
He struggled deeply to allow help, I asked him 2 months ago to let me help him with all that was going on with mum and their house. ‘No no, you focus on feeling good for baby, I’ve got it’

Today is bittersweet. I would’ve message my dad this pic at this time and gotten an instant ‘😍 happy first day Selkirk love gramps, nana grams and Sheena ’

This weeks adoptable animal is Kokoro the French Bulldog!

Kokoro is 8 years old, but she has a surprising amount of energy. She loves going for walks, meeting people, and being around her humans. She also knows how to settle down and enjoy some quiet time. Kokoro recently had one of her eyes removed and has been doing really well through everything. She has been a very sweet girl and has handled all the changes like a champ.

This week’s adoptable fur baby is… Apollo!

Apollo is a Saint Bernard Mix, 8 months old who gets along well with other dogs and would do great in a home with or without a canine companion. Apollo is still a puppy and learning, he will need someone who’s ready to continue working on his basic training and manners.

The staff and volunteers love him and his brother Zeus, and can’t wait for them both to find their loving forever homes.
