Joining STA Baseball has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

In just a few months, I’ve learned that development is bigger than talent. It’s about discipline, accountability, and becoming the best version of yourself on and off the field.

The coaches hold us accountable in everything: practice, grades, behavior, fundraisers, and serving the community.

Grateful to be part of a program that builds players and young men.

🎤 My first interview.

I’m Jaden Garcia, a 15-year-old baseball player from New Jersey, born and raised in the United States by a proud Dominican mom.🇺🇸🇩🇴

This summer, I’m in the Dominican Republic training to become a better baseball player, but I also want to learn more about the people, communities, and sports that are part of my family’s culture.

Tonight, I stepped outside my comfort zone and interviewed two athletes after an exciting barrio basketball semifinal in La Joya. 🏀

A huge thank you to @cdjoya for welcoming me and allowing me to experience the incredible atmosphere and passion that make barrio basketball so special. 🙏🇩🇴

My Spanish isn’t perfect.
My interviewing isn’t perfect.
But every conversation helps me grow.

This journey is about more than baseball. It’s about building confidence, connecting with my roots, and learning from the people around me.

This is only the beginning.

Week 1 in the 🇩🇴… COMPLETE.

Saturday my trainer took us to a hill that you have to cross a cañada just to get to. Before coming here, I didn’t even know what a cañada was.

During training, my trainer asked me in Spanish, ”¿Cuál es tu meta?” At first, I didn’t even know what meta meant. Once he explained it, my answer was easy…

My goal is to run a 5.9 in the 60-yard dash. I know that’s a very high goal, and it won’t happen overnight. But I’m not afraid to set big goals and put in the work every single day to chase them.

Every day I’m learning something new—not just about baseball, but about life, the Dominican culture, and what it really means to work for something.

No fancy facility. No shortcuts. Just a steep hill, a great trainer, teammates pushing each other, and a dream that’s bigger than today’s workout.

Week 1 is in the books. The work doesn’t stop here.

Road to 5.9 starts now. ⚾️💨🇩🇴

Big things are built behind the scenes. 💪🇩🇴

Excited to introduce the trainer @angel.lamaquina helping take my game to the next level while I’m training in the Dominican Republic. We’re focused on explosive power, speed, agility, and building the athleticism needed to compete at the highest level.

Every workout has a purpose. Every rep is an investment. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and keep chasing my goals one day at a time.

Let’s get to work! 🚀⚾
