Honoured to be a finalist in this years National Geographic Photography competition!! & runner up in the food category for a photo I took this year in India. I had an amazing evening speaking to such talented photographers and getting to see my work in displayed in the open air gallery in Granary Square, as well as this months magazine. The exhibit in Kings Cross is open until the 12th of July, it’s free to check it out! And here’s a little bit about the photograph ⬇️.Jaisalmer is a bustling city in India, loud with trading, working and people negotiating in the open air, so I often found myself searching for quieter spaces as it can be quite overwhelming! So, while wandering through the backstreets within the fort walls, I came across a woman carefully sorting grains by hand in the warm desert light. I didn’t want to disturb her, so I took a single shot as I walked past and quietly observed from nearby stairs. And felt an instant wave of calm. I thought there was a beautiful irony in how this small, solitary process is the thing that eventually brings people together… food 😌.#nationalgeographic #nationalgeographictravelleruk #travelphotographer #fujifilm by @jadenecarey

This is Sant’Elia, a small fishing in northern Sicily that reminded me a lil bit of a quieter Cinque Terre! Update: I’m finally out of my cast after a whole month and back shooting as normal 💪🏻😄📸.After a few weeks of bed rest, still in Nepal, I really wanted to get out and take some photos. I think photography is amazing for mental health and really has the magic to make you feel present and immersed in the world around you. And Pokhara was honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been! I still had low energy, couldn’t lift my right arm, use the viewfinder or shoot with my usual zoom lens. So it definitely was a challenge 😅.Most of these were taken slowly, either at waist height or yknow, sitting on the floor 😎.Huge shoutout to the doctors in Pokhara, who were incredibly kind and helped me recover enough to get home safely ❤️ .#fujifilm #nepal #pokhara #travelphotographer #nepalphotography by @jadenecarey

A Cottage in Kasikot 🤍🍃🌻.I was determined to see the Annapurna ranges after having to cancel my big hike because of a pretty painful shoulder injury. Luckily, we found the cutest little cottage in the local village of Kasikot, just outside the city of Pokhara & completely accessible by cab whilst still feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere! 🌼 So me, my arm cast and Jess got ourselves up here and were absolutely blown away with what we saw and the calming energy we were met with 🥹 One thing I really love about Nepal is that you can still get views like these without being a massive hiker (or while injured like me 😅) 🏔️.#fujifilm #travelphotographer #pokhara #nepalphotography #nepaltravel @fujifilmuk by @jadenecarey

The Aftermath of Holi! (Rishikesh, India).You often see a lot of photos and videos of the craziness of Holi, people covered in colourful powder, dancing, celebrating in the streets, but you don’t really see too much of what happens afterwards & this was for sure my favourite part of the whole day 🌈.As the sun sets on the Ganges River people gather by the water, some step in & wash away the colours of the day, while others make offerings or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere (like myself!). The energy shifts from chaos and celebration, to something quite peaceful? Street vendors pack up their stalls, purple smoke lingers in the air, to my left a group of people are singing with a guitar, to my right others gathered in prayer. And of course, you can hear a faint noise of others carrying on the celebrations into the night 😌.I think the final photo in this set sums up exactly how I was feeling in this moment 🥹🐵. #fujifilm #india #rishikesh #indiaphotography #holi by @jadenecarey
