This is a video I cherish with my whole heart. I remember this day like it was yesterday.

It was Grandparents Day, and my school project was to interview a grandparent. I interviewed my grandmother, Coco, first, but my dad wanted me to interview Grandaddy too.

So there I sat, wiggling all over the couch, not realizing that I was receiving some of the greatest advice of my life.

Grandaddy wasn’t simply helping me complete a school project. He was intentionally instilling values in his grandson. Values that have stayed with me all these years.

I share this video because this is legacy.

It’s not just what we leave for people. It’s what we leave in them.

These are words and moments I will never forget. One day, I’ll get to show my girls their great-grandaddy Hoyt and let them hear his voice for themselves.
