Sometimes, waiting can cost you ⏰ Catherine reached out about refinancing her home in Langwarrin, VIC, 3 months before her fixed rate was due to expire, after previously being told to wait until the fixed period ended before exploring her options. Instead, we got ahead of it. We put the refinance application in early and lined everything up so it would settle when her fixed rate expired. We also secured a rate lock, protecting her from the two rate increases that followed before settlement. We structured the loan 80% fixed and 20% variable, giving her repayment certainty while keeping some flexibility, and released $30,000 in equity for home renovations rather than relying on a higher interest personal loan. A great reminder that it can pay to review your home loan before your fixed rate expires, not after.
