May your 2023 be as bright as a Christmas tree and as happy as a cat cuddled up underneath it.

Thanks to @e_breglia’s buddy, Mercury, for being my model!

Finished “Cult of the Lamb” over the weekend and, naturally, had to draw the Lamb on my Etch a Sketch. What a charming, morbidly funny little game! 😈🐑⁣

“They say she was seen on occasion⁣
Pacing the rocks, staring out at the midnight sea⁣
And in a feud with her neighbour⁣
She stole his dog and dyed it key lime green⁣
…⁣
And they said,⁣
There goes the last great American dynasty⁣
Who knows if she never showed up, what could've been⁣
There goes the most shameless woman this town has ever seen⁣
She had a marvelous time ruinin' everything!”⁣
⁣
I love the picture Taylor Swift paints of eccentric heiress Rebekah Harkness in this song, so I decided to paint my own ;) ⁣

New Year’s Resolution: #2022AlphabetArtChallege! Artist friends, who is with me???

I’ve always liked the IDEA of New Year’s Resolutions but never keep them. I make the mistake of Resolving to do something really structured like, “I’ll do Thing X every Day/Week/Month.” And then when I miss it once… welp, forget it! I’ll try again next year!

So this year I’ve invented the Alphabet Art Resolution for myself: I’ll draw one thing (anything I want) for each letter of the alphabet (in any order I want) by the end of the year. That’s it.

Though this averages out to 2 weeks per drawing—which is a good but not oppressive pace for my scatter-brain—I’m not even gonna make myself adhere to that. No time constraints or expectations of quality. Just 26 chances to improve my art, as I get to them…

Anyone wanna team up?

Who else is hyped for the @officialloki show to debut tomorrow?⠀
⠀
This is actually the first in my “Infinity Stone” series depicting characters who carried a Stone’s vessel on the matching Etch A Sketch color. In this case, Loki with the Tesseract / Space Stone; we’ll see what mischief he causes with it tomorrow…⠀

@sernamichael and I have had a years-long friendly war going on about M.O.D.O.K.—Serna looooves him, whereas I’ve always found him… disconcerting 😅 ⠀
⠀
We’re both excited for the new @marvelsmodok show though, so, figured I’d make Serna a peace offering…⠀
⠀
(Unfortunately, the video’s not the best. Didn’t realize how much glare there was until it was done. Oh well.)

Alice said, “You know what I think this painting needs? Less of you working on it and more of you cuddling me!”⁣

Everyone’s a critic 🙄⁣

WARNING: Flashing lights on 4th post 💥⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Alice could not be less impressed when I opened my new Etch A Sketch... probably because her kitty senses told her it wasn’t going to work.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The problem with having a hobby like Etch A Sketching is that a lot of the coolest versions of the toy are old and their inner mechanics don’t work anymore. I’ve bought so many pieces whose wires have snapped, who are leaking powder, etc. etc. Case in point: I was so excited to try out this “GLOW” version annnnnddd... there’s a big splotch on the screen, rendering it essentially useless. ⁣
⁣
4th entry is a video showing how it was SUPPOSED to look...too bad, as it looks fun.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There is a note that the unit is “temperature sensitive” and to “let it return to room temperature” so 🤞that maybe it just got angry during shipping & will eventually right itself? ⁣⁣

“Who’s been messing up everything?” 😈 📺✨⠀
⠀
I, unfortunately, tapped her a liiiiiittle too hard and faded her checkered dress a bit more than I wanted to (still practicing my shading!) but overall I’m pretty pleased. ⠀
