What an amazing first cruising experience, deserved its own post! Def not for the faint of heart and a total overwhelming of the senses w the size and scope of it all — so many activities and people, excellent shows, unlimited food and drink and restaurants, beautiful island visits, music, gambling, etc. Was tough to only select 20 pics, so many stories and memories. Priceless times w family, haven’t traveled w my siblings and Mother since we were kids!!! Unforgettable. Thank you Mama @estellerothsiegman and @dgreen5 for planning and navigating!!! And Giggles for taking such good care of us ensuring we’d actually survive lol. @ed.harris.frenchie #royalcaribbean #staroftheseas #stthomas #stkitts #bahamas by @jag289

Premiere Day for The Darkest Light! What a powerful and emotional day. To quote my colleagues thank you to those that came out with an open heart, a heavy heart or somewhere in between — this film was made for exactly that range of feeling. The film looked gorgeous and provoked all the emotions, questions, comments and discussions we were hoping it would. The Q&A lasted essentially 2.5 hours! It’s a film you can’t not talk about and think about after. Congrats to Simon as we already won Best First Film, and we’ll see on the rest, but can’t wait to take this movie everywhere. And was so nice spending time w the film team and survivors who were brave enough to speak out in the film. We made the movie to honor them also. Onwards! Was also so happy to see and say hello to friend @racheldoesstuff and support her amazing doc Hollywood does Abortion! And to be back at the iconic Castro for the first time since premiering Journey there in 2012! A very special trip. ❤️🙏 @simongmendes @hreinberg @jackietepperyoga @sfjewishfilm @castrotheatre taken in Jewish Community Center of San Francisco by @jag289

Super excited to world premiere my next doc one week from today at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival! Huge congrats to my friends and colleagues @simongmendes and @hreinberg on leading the charge w this emotional, powerful, timely, and thought provoking film and to everyone else who worked on it. Thanks for letting me be on the ride with you and to @sfjewishfilm for the support and platform. See you soon SF! Vamos! 🙏🔥❤️🥳🎥

From the festival:

“In this searing portrait, filmmaker Simon Mendes examines the towering and deeply complicated shadow cast by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, the “Singing Rabbi,” whose music transformed Jewish worship across denominations and became woven into the fabric of the Jewish people. Through the perspective of his daughter, singer Neshama Carlebach—who spent years carrying forward her father’s teachings and music—the film traces a painful reckoning that emerged after numerous women publicly accused Carlebach of sexual abuse following his death in 1994. Haunted by revelations about the man she idolized, Neshama and an entire community are forced to confront the difficult question: what do you do when someone revered as a holy teacher has also caused profound harm? With compassion and complexity, Mendes crafts a thoughtful exploration of faith and accountability, capturing a community and a family still grappling with how to reconcile the comfort and ubiquity of Carlebach’s music with the disturbing allegations surrounding his legacy. —Jesse Knight by @jag289

Finally home from NYC and can post! Super excited to work with the iconic, endlessly talented and kind #avinesher to bring the relatively unknown story of The Ritchie Boys to life. This story of heroism is intimate yet so epic, powerful, emotional, and timely. And ultimately this band of soldiers, Jewish and other refugees, helped change the course of WW2 and world history! Thank you @variety @untitledentertainmentagency and @drgreg90210 @gershagency and #davidgersh and #brucehenderson for his brilliant book. Let’s goooo!!! 🙏🔥❤️ Happy Monday peeps! by @jag289

A very special night for me in Milwaukee. How it ended (maybe lol) and how it started. Full circle w my guys, literal rock stars @arnelpineda2007 and @yulsession Was on Arnel’s first tour in 2008/2009 when he joined the band @journeyofficial , and no way I was missing his last tour, the band’s farewell tour 18 years later. What a resurgence he led. Made a movie about that first tour and his incredible story w my brilliant friends and colleagues @cinediaz and @capellaf as most know, #dontstopbelievineverymansjourney and you can still see it lol. I could watch it over and over and have. Saw them perform many times over the years w such pride in what AP was accomplishing. And yes loved hearing him and the guys belt out my fave tunes I grew up with. Never got old. And Yul by his side the whole time serving so many roles: once his assistant but turned friend, protector, stylist, rock. It’s astounding that AP is just as humble 18 years later, his immense talent only exceeded by the size of his heart. I think they switched roles and Yul became the rock star lol. Love you guys and so proud of you. Can’t wait to see what you do next musically and other, but a huge congratulations and thank you on behalf of all us fans. In the immortal words of Bon Jovi “I’ve seen a million faces, and I’ve rocked them all.” You sure as hell did Arne!!!! And Yul no doubt you’re styling me if I ever make it to another red carpet buddy! Haha. @stylebyyul But as they say in their most famous song “….and the movie never ends it goes on and on and on and on.” @jonmchu let’s finally do part two!!!! :) 🙏🙏🔥🔥❤️❤️ by @jag289
