Why does finding your rhythm again feel so hard?

There are so many things that can interrupt our sense of who we are. Different life events can either pause or completely change a version of ourselves we’ve known for years.

It could be marriage.
Motherhood.
Loss.
Trauma.

Anything.

I want to be comfortable throughout every stage of finding myself again. And if that means doing the things that now feel uncomfortable… then that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

So this is your reminder to:

- Wear the outfit.
- Go on the road trip.
- Try something new.
- Go to that event.
- Extend the invitation.
- Accept the invitation.

You don’t have to feel like yourself to start becoming yourself again. 🤍 by @jaika_

I believed that if I just waited long enough, I would eventually be healed over time.
But time didn’t heal me.
God did.
Time passed whether I was healing or not.
But my submission determined what happened over time.
Healing has come through His presence, His grace, my honesty and slowly learning to trust Him with the life I never imagined I’d be living.
That doesn’t mean that grief has disappeared.
It means hope has resurfaced.

If you’re in a season where you’re wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again, I hope this reminds you that healing isn’t measured by the passing of time.
It’s possible to carry grief and still carry hope. 🤍
I’d love to know… what has helped you heal?

Looking back at this makes me feel so proud of myself. Not just for going, but for staying.

I was almost three years into widowhood here, and I felt so out of place. I wouldn’t say this shoe is a perfect fit for me now, but the thought of putting it on no longer feels impossible.

It’s strange how widowhood has no age, because death doesn’t wait for us to grow old. Yet somehow, it still felt like a title I was only ever meant to carry later in life.

The reality is that young widows exist in every part of the world, across every community. Sometimes, you don’t realise how many people share your experience until it becomes your own.

If you’re a young widow and you’ve ever felt like you don’t belong, I understand. It’s a difficult place to belong, so let’s give ourselves permission to take our time. 🤍 by @jaika_

This week, (13/07) is the anniversary of my husbands burial and I have been reflecting so much on the different stages I have been in. I am big on reflection and measuring growth.

As I was scrolling through my video journals, this video stood out to me.
This video was only last year (10/05/2025) but so much has happened within me since then. I still can’t believe I’m a widow, but I don’t feel that fragile with this new identity as I did in this video.

I really encourage you to start Video journalling. Some moments have to be captured immediately and I’m so happy but I recorded these moments. by @jaika_

In an ideal world, I would be a psychotherapist or even a neurosurgeon if sciences were my strength. I also wanted to be a crisis manager like the ethical and moral version of Olivia Pope from Scandal.
Until I figure it out, my passion is to keep my children fed, bills paid and be healthy. by @jaika_

HAIR WASH DAYS OUTDOORS! 😮
Yes Please! Who knew wash days could be this stress free. Give me this weather once a week and I’d be happy.

We’ve been swimming this week and applying sunscreen to her scalp so her hair needed to good wash.

I used a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the chemicals then went in with a bond repair shampoo and conditioner by @amika to rebuild, restore and rebalance her hairs ph.

Now I’m tempted to do mine outside too👀 by @jaika_

I’m not saying we shouldn’t make the most of our village. I value a village as much as the next person.
I just think we can forget what we are capable. What we can learn and even the space to see the fruits of our labour.

I still can’t believe a shop with my kids no longer makes me anxious.

I’d still rather do it without them though. by @jaika_

This has been one of my favourite lessons so far. The amount of relief this has brought me is something I will forever be grateful for.

There is a time for everything and I will sit in the time they are in.

What lessons are you learning grieving children? by @jaika_
