You know when you find a new song that you love, and you go to pick someone up in your car, and right before they get in you start it over to make sure they hear it in hopes that they too love it, and it will prompt the same feelings you get when you listen to it?

That’s what this post is, except it’s about my mom. And I know most of you have never met my mom, so maybe it just prompts the same feelings of love toward your mom as I feel toward mine, and that’s good enough.

If you were tasked with writing an essay about resilience, kindness, love, sacrifice, and friendship you could study the life of my mom and you would quickly find that she has lived a life that is a masterclass on these subjects.

If you are in need of a friend, you couldn’t choose someone better than my mom. She will love you, serve you, pray for you, rejoice with you and cry with you.

My mom will always be my best friend, and even if you haven’t met her she is still your friend too. She consistently asks how my friends are by name, even the ones she hasn’t met.

Since May 2021 my mom has had cancer twice (it’s gone now and hopefully forever), and the way she has used her experience with cancer as an opportunity to learn and grow has brought our family closer than ever before and I couldn’t be more grateful or proud of her because of that.

So today I am grateful for Mother’s Day, because it lets all of us replay that favorite song for everyone to hear as we share our love for our moms. by @jake.hammy
