What a joy to know that our Lord and Savior doesn’t just know humanity - He knows US. Individually by NAME.

On top of this - He wants a RELATIONSHIP with us and tells us we will get so much out of it if we do…

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” - John 15:4-5

I FAILED… sort of.

Going into the new year , I wanted to start the year off strong by doing something uncomfortable and to test my limits. Hence , I posted about this New Years Run Challenge where you all would dictate how long my run would be. Thanks to your guys’ support , the number I would have had to run was unattainable to me , so I decided to run as far as I was capable of.

The result: 13.8 miles !

While this number isn’t impressive to many , it is a HUGE WIN for me. The most I have ever ran at once is 5 miles and without any training leading up to this , I am stoked with the outcome ! My first half marathon in the books !

While this challenge was encouraging for me to start the year , I also want it to be encouraging to YOU. Set goals this year that scare you - and goals that you may not quite meet , because these allow us to see what we’re truly capable of. If you don’t FAIL at something , then you’re NOT TRYING hard enough.

So set some goals this year that scare you , and even if you fail them , you’ll get a glimpse of what you’re really capable of 💪 by @jake_gevedon

🚨 VULNERABLE POST 🚨

These last couple months have been a roller coaster for me.

June 22nd — I got baptized. One of the most significant days of my life 🙌 PRAISE GOD !

That same night , I break my thumb in my rec bball league. I needed surgery and was told I couldn’t workout or sweat for over a month… w/ 4 months full recovery.

If you know me , fitness is a huge part of my identity. So yeah … I struggled.

BUT in that struggle ? That’s where God showed up.

I had more time for things I wouldn’t typically make time for. Prayer walks , journaling , reading , studying scripture. I wrestled with God. How could He let this happen ? But through the struggle , He started teaching me about trials and suffering:

Romans 5:3–5 — Suffering → Endurance → Character → Hope. And hope never fails because it’s rooted in His love.

James 1:2–4 — Count trials as JOY. They test faith , produces steadfastness , and make us complete in Christ — lacking nothing.

John 16:33 — Jesus tells us we will face suffering , but we can have peace knowing that Jesus already won.

C.S. Lewis says in ‘The Problem of Pain’, “God whispers in our pleasures … but shouts in our pain. It’s His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” Pain and suffering gets our attention — and that’s where God speaks the loudest.

Here’s what I found to be true:

1) “EMBRACE THE SUCK” - had to throw in one of my fav Goggins quotes in here. But seriously. Suffering and seasons of “suck” isn’t wasted — God uses it to shape your endurance , strengthen your faith , and grow your hope.

2) Seasons of struggle can be the very moments where God’s voice becomes the clearest.

3) Endurance in hardship leads to spiritual maturity , making us “lack nothing” in Christ.

4) Peace in pain comes from knowing Jesus has already overcome the world.

5) Sometimes, the very thing we want to avoid — pain — is the thing God uses most powerfully to draw us closer to Him.

6) Your lowest moments can become the foundation for your deepest faith.

If you find yourself in a season of struggle or pain , take it as an opportunity to abide in God and find fruit knowing He’s in control. by @jake_gevedon
