A couple of weeks ago I went to conquer the “big” roll-in ramp that’s been scaring the shit out of me. This was supposed to be the video of me finally doing it. Instead it became an 18 minute long video of staring, overthinking, and being terrified to commit. Every time I’d roll up, I’d envision wobbling on the way down from the speed or eating shit face-first into the concrete once I got down to the bottom. Walking back to that tripod knowing I bitched out has been eating me alive since. Haven’t had much time to skate lately but as fate would have it, Khloe has a photoshoot today 4 minutes from the @portroyalskatepark The bitch in me is getting conquered today. #learning #skateboard #skate #skateordie #fuck by @jakelearnstoskate
One of my favorite parts of skating is setting up a new board. Something about building it from scratch brings a child-like joy to me. I think a little of it comes from spending so much time as a teenager looking through @ccs catalogs and dreaming of all the shit I couldn’t buy. Got a lil grownup money now so we in here 🤣 This particular board is going to be my daily cardio. 2 miles a day minimum. Every day for next 2 weeks. After that ima work towards 3.5 miles, and keep pushing until I see what my max capability is. Cruising my way into better shape 🛹 Doesn’t get much more fun that that. Saturday & Sunday skates with mini-me. I say it a lot but I really have never been the type to push my kids into doing what I do. I want them to find their own thing, their own path to their fulfilling their dreams, whatever that looks like for them. Over the last couple weeks, Dallas has really started gravitating toward skateboarding on his own. So we took his old board and threw new @independenttrucks @bonesbearings and @boneswheels and let him run with it. And man..… watching this little badass step into it the way he has fills me with so much joy and pride. Sharing the park with him, him fly down ramps I’m still standing at the top of scared to roll down….. Seeing him bust his ass, get right back up, and go again without hesitation…..it makes me so fucking proud. At 35, I’m just trying not to “let the old man in.” I know my progress is always gonna be slowed a little by that voice in the back of my head constantly thinking about getting hurt, missing work, not being able to play music, etc. But watching him… that fearlessness is a powerful reminder. When you let your kids find their own path, and you back it with true encouragement, the sky really is the limit for this generation. I can’t wait to see what this little dude becomes. No matter what path he chooses in life, ima be standing there with the same big ass smile on my face that I have as I type this. Keep giving em hell, boy. #Skate #skateboard #skatepark #fatherson by @jakelearnstoskate

This little thing scares the shit outta me 😂 @oc_ramps by @jakelearnstoskate
Today was my first time back at the skate park in weeks…didn’t realize how much I needed it until I was out there. Also had the whole park to myself, which rarely happens. Sometimes you don’t need answers as much as you just need space to breathe, move, and reset. Thankful for the day going a way that allowed me to pop over to the park. by @jakelearnstoskate
First time at this park. It was pitch black except for the lights we brought….definitely tripped over a couple rails. Still focused on getting more and more comfortable with speed and board control. Finally got enough speed to get up and down the mid-size ramp. Felt like a win. Few things I’ve found in life bring me as much joy as skating. Think it’s bout time to lock in and figure the Ollie out so I can progress to whatever the next phase is. #Skate #Skateboard #Learning by @jakelearnstoskate
Spent 4 hours at the park today. Felt really good getting back out there. I’m more comfortable carrying speed through the park. Starting to feel less stiff, little bit more flow. Switched to the @heroinskateboards 10.25” popsicle and some harder @spitfirewheels wheels and it’s made a huge difference…..way more control and confidence as opposed to the big & soft ones I was using. Next phase…gotta learn how to Ollie. Kinda maxed out my ability at the park until I figure that out. #skate by @jakelearnstoskate
Bought a rack to hold my boards and it kinda highlighted how overboard I’ve gone. When I was married I use to always hear that I had a money-spending problem. I used to say she was crazy. Now that there’s no one there to tell me not to buy stuff I think she may have been onto something. #skate by @jakelearnstoskate
Longboarding has become one of my favorite ways to clear my head. Just rolling, breathing, and letting the noise settle without any headphones. Something about hearing the wheels on the concrete is so soothing. #skate #skateordie #skateboarding #learning #longboard by @jakelearnstoskate
Day 1 of trying to convince @heroinskateboards to sponsor someone who doesn’t know how to skate yet…. All jokes aside I’ve fallen in love with the wider boards. 8.25s feel like toothpicks now. Never going back. #skateordie #skateboard #ilikeheroin by @jakelearnstoskate
