DIALOGUES I will be performing a recital of unaccompanied saxophone music on November 6th, at 8pm EST. This performance will take place in Kobacker Hall at BGSU’s Moore Musical Arts Center. The centerpiece and impetus for this recital is Pierre Boulez’s ‘Dialogue de l’ombre double.’ This piece is unique in its scale, virtuosity, and status as Boulez’s only sanctioned work for saxophone. It is built upon a dialogue between the performer and a recorded, shadow version of the performer. There is an extensive list of necessary electronic equipment for the performance, including a hexagonal speaker setup to surround the audience, a piano-reverb system, and a full lighting rig. After having lived with this piece daily for the past two years, I am excited to present it in its full glory with assistance from sound engineer Mark Bunce, recording engineer Mike Laurello, and hall manager Ryan Albrecht. A link to the livestream of this performance is posted below. I hope to see you in Kobacker Hall, and hope you enjoy the dialogue. https://www.youtube.com/live/B_wYrd7dIGI?si=yfHtJUCGJLlzbf6w Many thanks to @35mmbound for the absolutely incredible recital poster! Please visit his page and check out his incredible photos: his use of vintage cameras is amazing, and he is an endless wealth of knowledge on vintage/film photography. #saxophone #contemporarymusic by @jakeloitz
