people ask us all the time - after a decade together does it really feel different being married? usually the answer is "nah lol" and that's still true. it's not that different! we just share a checking account now.

but in the small moments, sometimes it *does* feel just a little bit different. I listen to you open our creaky front door in the morning after a twelve hour shift saving lives, and I think "my wife is home safe". I look across the table at a shabby (delicious) restaurant and think "my wife can really put down a bowl of pho". I look at the way you care for our friends, our family, our garden, our cats, and think "my wife is the best person I know."

all of those things may not be new to me, but the way my brain processes them feels a little different. it feels more permanent. it feels complete.
