I see there’s been a trend recently about 2016. What we were all doing 10 years ago.

Well 10 years ago I bought myself a camera. I was turning 27 years old. Fed up with my career in procurement and needed to find a creative outlet. I purchased a Nikon D3300 with a kit lens. It cost me around £400 and changed my life.

This image was the one that made me stop and go, “oh shit”. It was the first time I’d taken a photograph that made me feel like I’d caught something special and made me want to spend the rest of my life chasing that feeling over and over again.

It’s easy to compare my career with those around me. See the successes they’re having and the amazing projects they’re working on and feel disappointed im not living their careers… but if I think back to the moment I took this image and if I dreamt I’d have worked on the projects I have or that I’d be where I am today. I’d be absolutely over the moon. I escaped the spreadsheets for a life being creative.

So as far as trends go, this opportunity to reflect feels like a positive one and this image still makes me smile. by @jaketnash

2026. When did that happen?

I don’t really post on social media anymore, apart from stories. I used to post all the time, but lost my rhythm some years ago and created a bunch of weird rules about when I should or shouldn’t post.

I’ve decided not to care anymore. Forget the algorithms or the grid. If I take a photo I like I’m just going to post it. Lots of people seemed to like this one from @compton_verney so here it is again. Happy New Year folks. Maybe I’ll post again before the year is out! ✌️ by @jaketnash

Few things are certain in life, but one thing is that once every 6 months I’ll remember to post some recent work on social media.

This one was a great shoot launching the new collab between @norton.motorcycles x @hedonworkshop with an awesome crew. Despite breaking down on the motorway en route to the shoot, we managed to get some absolute bangers, thanks to the glorious spring sunshine! ☀️

I’m going through a real “everything looks better in B&W” phase at the moment. Maybe I’m maturing, maybe I’m just mirroring this grey and miserable summer we’ve all endured. Who knows.

These two shots are from a shoot back in May for @norton.motorcycles and I’ve been obsessed with this image ever since. The silhouette, the long shadows and that view. It’s minimal, moody and imo extremely peaceful… unlike the sound of that V4!

Six years ago I took this photograph of the #wanakatree in New Zealand. It lead to the first ever print I sold (to someone other than friends/family).

I stood there for almost 2 hours in minus conditions waiting for the colours to pop. Tourists came and went, as did the constant moving tide, but the two things that remained constant were my ridiculously numb fingers and my frozen beard!

I also learnt that Wanaka use air raid sirens when there’s a fire nearby… that didn’t terrify me at all!
