🎹 Beethoven on the Fortepiano!

Very excited to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 Op.19 in B-flat major next Tuesday with the wonderful Mozarteum Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Jakob Lehmann!

On a copy of a Rosenberger fortepiano, with improvised continuo and my own cadenza — with some improv!

Une parenthèse musicale en milieu de semaine... ✨🌿

Retour sur nos deux Heures joyeuses à la Cité de la musique et de la danse !

Entre l'énergie du mardi soir à 19h et la bulle intimiste du mercredi midi, le chef Jakob Lehmann a dirigé l'Orchestre à travers la grâce d'Émilie Mayer et la fraîcheur de la Pastorale de Beethoven.

Tafelmusik’s season opening concerts are devoted to masterpieces by two mavericks of their era.

The first and only female professor at the Paris Conservatory in the 19th century, Louise Farrenc was a groundbreaker whose Symphony no. 3 premiered to critical acclaim in 1849 alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony no. 5.

Taking our cue from history, we pair Farrenc with Beethoven once more—this time with his revered Symphony no. 7, famed for its haunting Allegretto, heard everywhere from the fall of the Berlin Wall to films like The King's Speech and Westworld.

Making his Tafelmusik debut is the celebrated conductor Jakob Lehmann, known for “revelatory conducting” (Opera Today) that "vigorously shakes up our listening habits" (Classica). Tickets are available now, visit rcmusic.com/tickets

Powerful, moving and impossible to forget 🔥

The Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra Révolutionnaire et Romantique, conducted by @jakoblehmann, left Alexandra Palace spellbound on Friday, joined by the spectacular talents of @robyn_allegra_parton, @nattra98, @petr_nekoranec and @bogdantalos.bass 👏

This marked the first modern performance of Rossini’s orchestral version of Petite messe solennelle on period instruments, offering a glimpse into a sound world that Rossini himself never had the opportunity to hear, in a historic venue completed just a few years after the work's 1869 Paris premiere.
