Este día de diversas proyecciones culminará con la presentación de la curadora argentina Malena Souto Arena @malena_souto_arena . Fue invitada a una residencia destacada en Helsinki y estamos encantados de escuchar sus opiniones y reflexiones.

Still two more days to go with the exhibition 'La Rosa Blanca - Alberto Churba & Finlandia' at ROOM at @falenalibros in Buenos Aires.

It was an honour to receive Mr. Alberto Churba to the opening. Thank you also to his many friends and relatives who accompanied him. @geraldinerosenbach_

"I found the first mention of Villiruusu glass tableware in the minutes of the product meeting on November 26, 1980. In which the export manager of the Iittala glass factory at the time, Harri Pursiainen, presented the three models designed by Alberto Churba that he had brought with him and inquired "if it can be made in Iittala". It was stated at the meeting that the plate could be made. The then director of the Iittala glass factory, Juhani Kivikoski, had supported the proposal; "stating that in order to get good ideas, perhaps more designers are needed".
Until now, Iittala had only had domestic designers and this had caused a discussion at the meeting. An agreement had been reached and Villiruusu's product development began.
The first test model numbers on plate E898 and bowl E899 were recorded in 1981.
This also means that the first series of test models were produced in 1981.
At that time, during the summer Alberto Churba was visiting Iittala and watching the trial production of the first objects. I don't know the exact time when he was at the factory.
After the successful trial batches, a decision was made to adopt the series as Iittala's sales product. At the end of 1981, production batches for sale began. In a hurry, arrangements for packaging and their manufacture, as well as photography of finished items for the product catalogue and advertising material.
It was called Villiruusu. I don't know who came up with the name; could be the designer himself, remains to be guessed... Sales started at the beginning of 1982, continuing until 1986, when production ended as a selection product of the Iittala glass factory.
However, the Villiruusu series was still in demand, because on 4 December 1991 a record was found for product numbers 0909-115, - 145, -200 mm bowl, and plates -150, -250, -300 mm, from re-production, as a special order as an Iittala Export product for a few years."

Incluye la entera 1982 colección 'Villiruusu' (La Rosa Blanca) de Alberto Churba para la fábrica de vidrio finlandesa @iittala.

Otras piezas de Iittala de Alvar Aalto, Tapio Wirkkala y Timo Sarpaneva se exhiben junto a la colección de Churba.

I am biased but I think this is a very special one. A beautiful presentation of Alberto Churba's 1982 original 'Villiruusu' (La Rosa Blanca) collection of plates and bowls for @Iittala, Finland.

Argentinian Alberto Churba was the first ever internacional designer for Iittala.

The entire collection is now on display and sale at ROOM @Falena and presented by @Nordicamerica in Buenos Aires. by @jaliwahlsten
