BBC One London.

Earlier this week, I joined Shay Grewal on Sunny & Shay to talk entrepreneurship — and revealed live on air that Plantain Papi has secured a month-long residency in April, trading every weekend at Southbank.

It’s a big moment for us. Southbank is one of London’s most dynamic and high-footfall cultural spaces, and for the entire month of April, people from across the city will be able to come and experience Plantain Papi properly — not as a one-off, but as a destination.

We spoke about the realities of building a food business in London, the journey so far, and what it takes to turn a cultural idea into something scalable and lasting. Huge thanks to @2020levels & @offscriptgen for facilitating the conversation and creating space for founders to be heard.

There’s a lot to prepare, but momentum like this doesn’t come by accident.

It’s been a helluva of 26, ready for 27 🥳

God has truly positioned me - so many blessings and much more that’s about to drop; I am nothing without Him and the friends, #family and supporters along the way.

Now we begin a generational run… watch closely 👀

I won

Secured the growth stage pitch win for Wray Forward. I know some of you thought I’d already won this — but personally, I really didn’t think I had.

I was bed bound for nearly two months, and it shook a lot of the business plans I had. But the process actually made me stronger; what got me through was ceaseless prayer and dwelling in the secret place of the Most High (Psalm 91). Now I rise.

Here’s some videos from the day, and some blooper images people caught in between while I was speaking.

Some of you have really seen my early pitching so here’s a peak into the growth!

To everyone who pitched — you were amazing. @umutoni.thankyou @aamsxo @mrdboadu @richie.aina

Thank you to all my friends who showed up and supported. Special thanks to @ladajahw and @wale_aki for really showing up and showing out consistently throughout.

Big love to @foundervine & @wrayandnephewuk for the opportunity & now support of the mission. taken in Campari UK by @jamarlywright

Rainy days..😅

Quiet days like this are genuinely hard after prepping all night - the sellout days are amazing but back to back train strikes halting customers and sudden costs i.e punctured tyre, broken down cooking equipment - really hit us as a small business but we persevere to make plantain the next global superfood!🫡

ANNND THATS A WRAP!

Southbank x Plantain Papi one month COMPLETE and it took damn near everything we had from us; back to back days of 30 minutes - 3 hour sleeps and countless challenges tested but God was with us throughout and the outpouring of love & support from the community genuinely lifted us up and carries us through.

This was so hard but so worth it and we’re grateful, we love you all (I the founder personally love you all so much for this)

Big thank you to the team as nothing would have been possible without each and every one of you going above and beyond.

We have some exciting news… Stat tuned 👀

Peace,

Come get Plantain with me 🚶🏽‍♂️🚐

Side note: This is our last weekend at Southbank so@if you still haven’t come down or haven’t tried the rest of our menu … make time this weekend.

I’ve been so busy with prep that it’s really been back to back 2-3 hours sleep preventing me from documenting more of our win and community interaction but seeing you guys enjoy our product, come back for more and talk about the cultural significance makes this all worth it… alongside the P’s ofc 😉

See you tomorrow 🫶🏽 taken in New Covent Garden Market by @jamarlywright
