🐾 Two K-9s. One Team. 🐾

Having two police K-9s work alongside each other safely and effectively doesn't happen by chance. It's the result of consistent training, repetition, and building trust between the handlers and their dogs.

Training together allows the dogs to become comfortable working in close proximity, remain focused on their tasks, and operate as a team when called upon. Whether it's tracking, searching, or assisting in an apprehension, the ability to work alongside another K-9 can be a valuable asset in the field.

Teamwork is built long before the call comes in. The time and effort put into training together today can make all the difference when it matters most. 🚔🐾

Get yourself an ice cream man that comes down your super long driveway because we can't make it to the road in time! And gives your kids and DOGS extra ice cream.. He's the best!

Gamble's not really a fan of baths, but they're necessary every once and a while. Especially when you spend 80+ hours a week inside a car together!

We took a trip to Florida in September for a few days. The weather was beautiful, the roads were nice, everything was well kept.. We got to go on walks early in the mornings and late at night without having to put a jacket on.
I truly hope that sunshine, warmth, and so many other things are in the next chapter. I had so much fun spending time with my family and being able to do the things we wanted. @kyyx0x0

Mindblowing that you're just a few short months away from being four years old. Time is going by way too fast..
Got a new dogg too. His name is Snoop, you can thank my wife @kyyx0x0 for that.

🚨🚨Local Business Donates Land Use for West Haven Police K-9 Unit🚨🚨

The West Haven Police K-9 Unit would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Star Distributors in West Haven for generously donating the use of their property to help construct a Police K-9 obstacle course. Not only has Star Distributors donated the use of their land, but they have been a long standing supporter of our K-9 Unit. Star Distributors has consistently allowed the use of several of their buildings within the City of West Haven for both our K-9 Unit, as well as the Connecticut State Police K-9 Unit which consists of K-9 teams state-wide.

This obstacle course will provide an invaluable training environment not only for the West Haven Police K-9 Unit, but also for K-9 teams from departments throughout the surrounding area. Regular obstacle training helps keep our K-9s physically fit, mentally stimulated, confident, and ready to perform when their skills are needed most.

For working police dogs, training isn't just about preparing for the next call. It's also about keeping them happy, healthy, engaged, and challenged throughout their careers. Having a safe, dedicated space where handlers can train alongside their partners is an incredible resource.

We are extremely grateful to Star Distributors for supporting our K-9s. Their generosity will have a lasting impact on our K-9 teams for years to come.

As we begin bringing this project to life, we are also looking for members of our community and local businesses who may be interested in lending a hand. Whether it is helping with the construction, donating lumber or other materials, or making a monetary contribution toward the project, every bit of support can help us create a safe and effective training environment for our K-9 teams.

If you or your business would like to learn more about the project or have questions about how you may be able to assist, please feel free to reach out. Questions and inquiries can be directed via e-mail jtortora@whpd.com. As the school year starts to bloom, we will explore high-school woodworking classes to make this a teachable project for our students. by @james_christopher94

The West Haven Police K-9 Unit would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Ricky, owner of Working Dog Wood, for his generous donation of a beautifully crafted wooden plaque honoring our police K-9 teams.

The plaque is a true reflection of the dedication, professionalism, and partnership shared between our handlers and K-9s. Ricky's craftsmanship and attention to detail have created a lasting tribute that will be proudly displayed for years to come.

We are incredibly fortunate to have individuals like Ricky who support law enforcement and recognize the hard work and sacrifices made by our K-9 teams. Thank you for your generosity, your talent, and for helping us celebrate the incredible dogs that serve alongside us every day.
