I've tried
To get you off of my mind

A while ago my mom showed us a video about the word "try." A man asks a woman to try to pick up a chair. She picks it up. He says, "No, you picked it up. Try to pick it up." She sets it down and just stands there. He says, "Now you're not trying." She grabs it and lifts it again. "No, now you're picking it up." Either you do it or you don't. There is no try.

When I saw that, it hit me right away. For so long I said "I've tried." I tried to forget. I tried to be fine. But I wasn't really trying. I was holding on, and it was hurting me.

I think we've all said "I've tried" about something. But either you do or you don't.

So this is me doing it. I've Tried is out now, and on my birthday I'm finally letting it go.

"He intentado

Me estaba aferrando, y me estaba haciendo daño.

Not to wonder if you're alright
Not to wonder if it was time

One day I sat down at my piano, and it all came pouring out. Everything I hadn't said to anyone. For the first time I was honest, even with myself.

When it was finished, I showed it to my mom and dad. It was the first song I ever showed them. Tomorrow I'm sharing it with you.

But still I wake up and wonder why

After that day I told everyone I was fine. My friends. My family. Myself.

I tried to forget him. I tried not to wonder if he was okay. I tried to stop asking myself if any of it had been real.

None of it went away. It just got heavier.

3 days.

A mis amigos. A mi familia. A mí misma.

Sure I say that I'm fine
But lately you've been on my mind

I was 12 when I wrote those words. My best friend had just told me he never wanted to be my friend at all. I kept saying I was fine, and every time I said it, it got heavier.

One day I sat down at my piano and it all came pouring out. For the first time, I was completely honest, even with myself.

That song is I've Tried. It's the first song I ever showed my parents, and on October 28, my birthday, it's yours.

If there's someone you keep telling everyone you're over, you'll know exactly what this feels like.

Pre-save it now (link in bio) so it's waiting for you.

Esa canción es I've Tried.
