We handed Goodhood over to @artof_pingpong for an evening of art, drinks and some very competitive ping pong.

We came together to celebrate the launch of their new limited-edition collection with British artist @jamesmjoyce, bringing James’ distinctive Collapsed Clown Face artwork off the canvas and onto the table.

Drinks were flowing, music was playing and things got suitably serious once the winner-takes-all tournament kicked off.

Thank you to @artof_pingpong, @jamesmjoyce and everyone who picked up a bat and spent the evening with us at Goodhood. 🏓

Keep your eyes peeled for our next event 👀

DETAILS ARE
NO LAUGHING MATTER

Before we reveal the full James Joyce × Art of Ping Pong collection on 24 September, we thought we’d share a closer look at one of the details.

The artwork is printed directly onto birch plywood, allowing the natural wood grain to remain visible through the work.

A layer of white ink beneath the graphic elements softens the grain and gives them greater depth, while James’s black linework is picked out in gloss spot varnish against the otherwise matt surface.

A subtle detail, but one that really comes to life as the light moves across it.
