I packed the morning of the hike, to find my shoes ripped on the sides, backpack with mold stains, hair ties well hidden out of sight and lacking of a good adventure cap.

I left the house knowing I’d find everything I needed for the trip on the way. It was fun. I did indeed find everything I needed in fairly unexpected and amusing ways. I forgot to buy hair ties. I knew I’d find one on the path. First step on the trail and there she was. Used in all her glory by a long haired stranger named Sue. That was my hunch... Sue’s hair tie lasted me the whole 2 nights up there.
On any adventure it’s important to remember ~ everything needed will be provided for. I’ll know to take action when I need to take action. Stressing is a waste of energy.
More important than the memories of the weekend I came home with some new white shoes I wouldn’t have bought otherwise (less white now), a nice new backpack from marketplace, not one but two new adventure hats and of course my new used hair tie.

After a couple days hiking, I stayed up the mountain one more night in one of my favorite forests, filled with eucalyptus aroma and a soundscape of lush birdsong. My heart just kinda burst open unexpectedly with an overwhelming gratitude for this bizzare journey of life and all of the love, loss, laughter and tears that are woven through it. This melody started coming through and the lyrics began finding their way.

The song has since evolved in the past couple days, but singing it takes me right back to this scene in this forest, feeling that cracked open heart. So I wanted to share a window into a raw and very sweet moment of watching formless feelings fill sound and song.

Life is a ride of a ride..
The temptations to numb are real ~ scrolling, whatever it is.. I’ve been surprised how bad it got me ~ going on the phone trying to avoid confronting certain feelings..
So..
Returning to the practice again and again of welcoming all the textures.
