📍 Barcelona, Spain

These past few days in Barcelona have been nothing but a thrill with Melinda Jane. From seeing Sagrada Familia, to Park Güell, getting matching tattoos, & watching Lewandowski score a hat trick (3 goals for you non football fans). I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I’m going to miss waking up in Europe and staying up until the crack of dawn but I’m so excited for what’s to come. Happy 1st Birthday, Jade Arabella. 🎂

Words can’t describe how much you mean to me. You have changed our lives for the better in every way imaginable. You’re the reason I strive to be a better man every day, the reason I joined the Fire Department, and the reason I continue to learn and grow.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a whole year. Watching you grow from a tiny baby into the sweet, joyful little girl you are today has been the greatest blessing of my life.

You’ve also made your mom and I better. Watching your mom love, teach, and care for you has been beautiful. She’s an amazing mother, and we’re both so blessed to have you in our lives.

Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing wife. Even though the day is almost over, I couldn’t let it end without telling you how thankful I am for you. I thank God for you every single morning and feel so blessed to have you not only as my wife, but as the incredible mother to our beautiful daughter.

This season of life hasn’t been easy — learning how to navigate life with a baby while starting my career in the fire department has challenged us in so many ways. But through it all, I truly believe it’s been a blessing because we’ve gotten to grow and figure it all out together.

Melinda Jane, I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without your love, support, patience, and strength. Watching you be such an amazing mama to our baby girl makes me love and appreciate you even more every day. Thank you for everything you do for our little family. Signed up for this half marathon three months ago — just two weeks after our baby girl Jade was born. Smart? Probably not. 😂

Training meant early mornings, long miles, and a lot of sacrifice. And today… was brutal. I’ve never pushed my body that hard.

At mile 11, I saw Melinda, Jessie, and my mom. First thing I said was, “This is awful.” Mel’s mom goes, “Oh no, is he not enjoying it?” Mel just laughs: “No — he is. And he’ll do it again. He likes to make himself miserable.” Pretty much sums it up. 😂

But what a blessing to be able to do this. I thank God for the strength — and Melinda Jane for pushing me, grounding me, and helping me through every step.

To some, it’s just a run. To me, it’s one step closer to the marathon. taken in Washington D. C. by @jamespatin11

Thanking God for this season — the calm before the next chapter. Took our last trip of the year before my half marathon and the start of fire academy.
