Where the river runs free 🏞🌿Whilst looking through my archives, I came across my Switzerland folder & discovered images upon images that I’ve never shared, despite them being taken over the past two years. Some are from summer, like this one taken in Bellwald where the Rotten River rages through the Valais Valley or like most, during autumn which I’ll be dropping of over this month. Once the clouds cleared, the city appeared...✨☁️ which take your pick - photo 1, 2, 3 or 4?This morning was one where everything came together. A mountain storm from the night before had settled & rain condensed to form a misty inversion, which surrounded the plateaux where the ancient city of Ronda sits perched. We couldn’t believe it - we watched fog swirl and then vanish as it hit the cliff edge, light rays filtering through The Puente Nuevo bridge as the sun rose...conditions like these must happen only a few times a year I thought. What were the chances. Stepping back in time...🏺✨ making the trip down to Abu Simbal was entirely worth it. It’s in the far south of Egypt along the Nile river, just across a few miles from the border of Sudan. I flew to Luxor, took the train to Aswan & then finally a minibus to spend that night in a guest house, to then be one of the first into these magnificent temples. Two line the river bank, built by Ramses II in 1300s BC. Sunrise over Alpe di Siusi — where the Dolomites glow like they’re lit from within 🌄✨From walks in the meadows to dancing the night away at chalet club, my time in the mountains has been pretty unforgettable, thanks to @truevent.eu. Venice to the Dolomites ⛰️🇮🇹☁️It’s been a joy to experience a snippet of summer in Italy, courtesy of @truevent.eu. We started our stay at the @jwmvenice, just a 20-minute water taxi ride from St Mark’s Square. The hotel is an oasis of calm, nestled on its own island, providing much-needed downtime after being caught up in the bustling crowds in the city’s heart. 🍝The magestic mountains awaited us on Day 2. 4am wake up calls in Cambodia 🛕🇰🇭 Usually such early alarms make me hit snooze, but for Angkor Wat, rising couldn’t have been easier. At @fccangkorbyavani, I was just a 20-minute scooter ride away from Angkor; catching sunrise here for the second time felt even more momentous and immersive. Rather than being amongst the crowds at the Reflecting Ponds, I opted for the quieter Northern Library & sat perched ready for first light. Part 1 • A journey down the Mekong… 🌴🇱🇦It all began in Luang Prabang. A city home to sacred Lao traditions, ancient royal palaces & nods to its French colonial rule. Staying a stones throw from the UNESCO centre, @avaniluangprabang made exploring on foot so much easier, restful in the heat of the day, and convenient when grabbing noodles from the night market across the road. 😋What the next 3 days entailed was nothing short of magnificent. Blissful sailing on the @bohemerivercruise , with stops along the mighty Mekong, featuring incredible hospitality. Not all who wander are lost… 🇹🇷✨Ahh, Istanbul. The city that spans two continents, fizzing with Eurasian fusion and stories from global trade - 48 hours here felt right as my first trip with @globe_trotter1897. ✈️ 🧳Designed to withstand the test of time, my cabin-sized case held all my belongings for my weekend away, with enough room for a few small Grand Bazaar treasures, too. I stayed in Galata, a neighbourhood that perches overlooking the Bosphorus, where cobbled streets wind their way up to the Watchtower at its peak. The case’s lightweight frame and sturdy hardware allowing for me to carry rather than pull made wandering these streets a whole lot easier. 😮‍💨This was my second visit to Turkey, the first being in 2016 when I was on the tail end of trying to convince people that my iPhone could be considered professional photography. I took a stroll down memory lane to Ortaköy on the banks of the Bosphorus, where I realised that eight years ago, this exact spot was where I was coming to grips with my first proper DSLR — while simultaneously trying to dodge seagulls that seemed intent on stealing my brekkie. My morning this week here felt like a moment that’s come full circle. I’ve come to learn that travelling for me is less about ticking things off once in a destination and instead much more about slowing down to you immerse yourself in that new place — and, of course, what case you carry to help you do just that. 😉🗺️ @globe_trotter1897 will become a staple in my adventures, and I’m excited to take this with me into my next chapter of discovery in 2025 • #GlobeTrotter1897 #MyGlobeTrotter #GTGifts #Istanbul #Türki̇ye by @jamesrelfdyer

Wild encounters… 🐘🌾🐾After crossing the Luangwa River on a raft in the twilight hours, @kafuntasafaris took us on our most enchanting bush ride so far. Following downstream, we encounter hippos & crocs, wildebeest to giraffes bathing & grazing from the open jeep, topped off with coffee on the river banks. ☕️🇿🇲 If today couldn’t get any better, upon returning to camp, a huge herd of elephants wandered past the @kafuntasafaris clubhouse - 20 at least! Our time in Zambia is drawing to close… but what a lasting memory to end on.
