Well, here's the thing, at-will employment goes both ways... He absolutely WAS NOT forced to do the assignment.
This was the outcome of a series of VOLUNTARY CHOICES... HE CHOSE to work for ICE, HE CHOSE to be deployed, and, most importantly, HE CHOSE to commit a crime by pointing a LOADED FIREARM at people rather than identity as law enforcement in another manner.

Here's the thing, even w/ the One Big Beautiful Nut Sack, Texas wouldn't have been in such a bind if Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton, Dan Patrick, and the GOP legislature had not REPEATEDLY REFUSED LETTING THE FEDERAL GOV'T COVER 100% OF MEDICAID EXPANSION FOR 2 YRS, AND 90% EVERY SUBSEQUENT YEAR, SIMPLY BECAUSE THE ACA WAS PASSED BY BARACK OBAMA!
