Thrilled to share that the soundtrack for @michiel_rensen’s After Impact is out today on all platforms

This was my first chance writing the lion’s share of a feature-length score, and I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out. Set against a beautifully shot post-apocalyptic world, I got to develop the motifs and themes alongside my mentor @mikenewportmusic — I’m so grateful he brought me onto this one, and it’s genuinely one of the best writing experiences I’ve had.

Huge thanks also to @jonifullermusic for her stunning string playing, which took the score to another level entirely.

Here it is. “The Soundtrack”. I wrote this song for my baby boy just before he was born and I wanted him to have this for the rest of his life. It took a year to go from concept to reality. This was a collaboration on an unprecedented scale for me and it is with immense gratitude that I want to thank @e.f.j.fagan , @emmamazzaschi and the incredible musicians of @new_classics_sinfonia as well as @jamesryancullen who arranged the song in such a beautiful way. I also need to express my thanks to the unmatched @robert_charles____ - your conducting style brought such joy to this song and to the shoot. @lochanamedia brought his incredible talent to capture these images and mentor me along the way. We hope you enjoy this piece of art that we have poured ourselves into. #orchestra #singersongwriters #musician #nathanimboden #newclassicssinfonia #auckland by @jamesryancullen

This project has been in development for one year and I couldn’t be prouder to share with you a bit of what has been going on behind the scenes. We are beyond excited to bring this piece of art to life in two weeks. Still absolutely fizzing over how good @fullmetalorchestra was!!

So honoured to be able to co-arrange some arrangements again for the amazing LEGEND @ryanyouens, hearing them played with the incredible @aklphil and magnificent @maestrasgw at the helm, coupled with that insane band and incredible lineup of singers … words fail me. Absolutely Unreal!

But then also be given the opportunity to run side of stage and help out with production was so cool. A massive thanks to all the crew I got hang out with and make me feel super welcome. Such an insanely cool bunch of people!

So so grateful. How good is music?

A couple of short animated films I did the scores for earlier this year have had a good run through some film festivals. A joy and a pleasure collaborating with students from @mediadesignschool and I'm currently doing sound design and scores for two more, excited to see where they go as well!

We had the best time collaborating with @aklphil on @joyfeng_j’s winning Peace Song at @parachute_music ! Joy wanted a violin, flute, French horn and clarinet on her track and composer @jamesryancullen made it happen! 🤩💫
