if you’re about to build your summer bucket list stop scrolling and SAVE this post for later 📝☀️

1. Valley View Farm 🐓
I went to @valleyviewlittleanimalfarm as a child, so it feels so nostalgic bringing my own girls there now. Such a fun outing with so much to do - perfect for the 2-5 year age range

2. Early-ON playgroups 🎨
I feel like this one isn’t talked about enough! Early-ON centres and playgroups are so beneficial in the early years and they are FREE!

3. Nature Museum 🦕
Definitely add @museumofnature to your summer bucket list with the Canada Strong Pass which will give you free or discounted admission starting June 19th 🍁

4. Library Programming 📖
if you haven’t visited your local library I challenge you to do that this summer. It’s not just about books, @opl_bpo works hard to organize tons of summer programming like story times, reading challenges and make + take activities!

5. Conservation Areas 🌿
Walking through the forest + wetlands is a fun way to get outside and also learn about all kinds of wildlife!

6. The Log Farm 🐐
I only learnt about @thelogfarm last year, but it’s now one of my favourites! They often host themed events and even when they don’t, there’s so much to do and explore

7. Agriculture Musuem
Summer is the perfect time of year to visit @agfoodmuseum and with the Canada Strong Pass you can get free or discounted admission starting June 19th 🍁

8. Park Hopping 🛝
one of the first things I did when I found out we were moving back to Ottawa was scrolled through @ottawa.playgrounds and saved all the parks I wanted to checkout 😅

9 Science and Tech Museum
A family favourite because of the ZOOM room! Trust me when I say it’ll be impossible to get your toddler to leave this area. @scitechmuseum is also a part of the Canada Strong Pass 🍁

5 THINGS THAT MAKE MY DAYS SMOOTHER ✨👇🏼

1. 🍎 Snack boxes prepped at breakfast
Having snacks ready to grab throughout the day saves me from scrambling every time the girls inevitably ask for a snack or we have an outing in the morning. It keeps them happy and me less stressed!

2. 🧺 One load of laundry a day
Doing just one load daily makes the laundry pile feel way less overwhelming. It’s easier to manage small chunks than tackle a mountain all at once. I also do delay start on our washer before bed so that we save $$ and part of the laundry gets done while I sleep

3. 🌿 Getting outside as much as possible
Fresh air works wonders for everyone’s mood. The kids burn energy, I get a mental reset, and even a short walk can turn a tough day around.

4. 🤫 Quiet time after dropping naps
Even when naps are over, quiet time gives my toddler a chance to recharge and me a little breather. It helps the afternoons feel calmer for all of us.

5. 🧸 Toy rotation
Switching toys in and out keeps playtime exciting without needing more stuff. The kids feel like they’re getting something “new,” and the house stays less cluttered + easier cleanup for everyone

she’s ready…. but I’m not 😭🍎✏️

we spent some 1:1 time together and made matching bracelets for the whole family to wear during her first week of school! here’s the poem I was inspired by:

For your first day of school, here are two bracelets - one big and one small.
I’ll wear the big one and think of you, while the small one is yours so you’ll think of me too.
Wear it while you learn and play to keep my love with you all through the day

these are just some simple ways I keep up with the chaos (there’s definitely still areas of my home that are needing some TLC 🤪) but it’s crazy how a basket or hook can turn chaos into calm 😌🧘🏼‍♀️

we love @glopals light up cubes, and we also love @supersimpleofficial - so when I found out these two worlds were colliding it was the best news! 🗞️ ✨

these cubes automatically glow when dropped in water and turn off when removed! We love them for sensory play, the water table and they are especially fun in the bath 🛁

want to keep your grocery bill down? 👇🏼🛒

the first thing I do before I even start thinking about what I want to eat this week is open the @getflipp app and see what’s on sale!

🥕 I plan most of my meals around what meat, veggies + pantry staples are on sale. I pick one store and shop there - usually it’s @foodbasicson

🥔 next I see what needs to be used up in my freezer or pantry and come up with meals I can make with them; I add any ingredients I’m missing to my list

⏲️ I make sure there’s a couple easy / freezer meals I can whip up in case our daytime plans change or i’m late making dinner. That way I’m less likely to grab takeout

🛒 i have also noticed that if I do grocery orders online I stay within budget a lot easier because I am less likely to grab those impulse buys
