JAY-Z 2026

This night will forever live rent-free in my mind. Quite possibly, if not definitely, one of the GREATEST concerts I have ever been to. PERIOD.

This man was basically the soundtrack to my childhood, and here he is, in his 50s, going back-to-back with hit after hit like it’s bloody nothing!!! His voice, his performance, the ORCHESTRA, the energy, the atmosphere… honestly, UNREAL! Unreal I tell you!

Oh and opening the show with some badass monologue from the one only Idris Elba, I mean! Yes please and thank you!

Then to bring out Giggs… THEN THE FUGEES?!?! 😭😭 Literally a childhood bucketlist moment right there. Insane hey!

And to add candles on this already delicious cake of a night, there she was, Queen B, just a few rows above us in a box, celebrating her birthday the entire time!!! BEYONCÉ!!!

And to top it ALL off… FIREWORKS!!! I bloody lovvvveee fireworks!!!

So yeah, best night EVER!

Friday Flowers this week are for the sensational @lucyspong. 🌹

Oi, when I say I align with this woman, I mean I alliiiggggnnnn with this woman.

We met at an intimate industry dinner, the seating plan be seating, and somehow I ended up opposite a powerhouse I very quickly came to admire.

Driven. Ambitious. Sensational dress. Sensational hair. And the illustrious spice to match.

Lucy is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of @runamok_studios , an independent sound studio with a bloody banging office in Shoreditch.

There was a plan, yes.

But there was also a very necessary:

“Fuck it, let’s do this.”

She admitted there was real imposter syndrome before launching, but one of her biggest revelations since?

Nobody has it completely figured out.

And this quote was too cold to paraphrase:

“Confidence doesn’t necessarily come from knowing you’re right. Sometimes it comes from being comfortable enough to make a decision without having all the answers.”

🌹 TRUTH.

She’s also stopped apologising for knowing her worth, having an opinion and asking for what she needs.

Yes. We bloody applaud that.

And then there’s her passion for the next generation.

Lucy wants more young women to see sound design as a creative, exciting and viable career, with more mentoring, work experience and paid entry-level opportunities.

Her words:

“Talent is everywhere, access and visibility aren’t always.”

Read that again.

Oh, and her most controversial advertising opinion?

Cannes.

A week in the South of France celebrating how culturally relevant advertising is… surrounded almost entirely by people who work in advertising.

🌹 TRUTH. 😂

Lucy Spong, you are an absolute weapon.

Beautiful, brilliant, warm, sharp, ambitious and not afraid to question how things have always been done.

Flowers. All of them. 🌹🌹🌹

And yes, her Friday Feeling bangers include Gabriel by Roy Davis Jr.

As if I wasn’t a fan of hers already, hey.

🌹 Today’s Friday Flowers goes to my Swedish love, @irmaholm

I always think it’s mad that little Irma and little Jamie grew up on separate continents, unaware that one day this Swedish powerhouse would have such a huge impact on this little South African’s life.

Irma is one of the reasons I’m on this career trajectory. She opened the first door that led to so many more.

At a time when I was starting over, navigating life as a single mother and figuring out what the bloody hell came next, Irma was there. The cheerleader I didn’t know I needed.

Naturally, we fell in love over colour-coordinated spreadsheets, problem solving, fresh stationery and an unhealthy appreciation for organised fun.

We were basically Monica Geller’s wet dream.
(Can I say that on Instagram? Anyway, I have now.)

Irma bloody LOVES a challenge. She adds approximately 14 levels of organisation to everything she touches and you’ll thank her for it.

If we were stranded on a desert island with only sticks to eat, Irma would have a map, a spreadsheet and somehow make them taste better.

She’s also the only person I could walk 26.2 miles with and not want to kill by the end. 😂

A little insight into my Irma:

🌹 She’s been asking “WHY?” since kindergarten. Tell her “that’s just how it’s done” at your own risk. She’ll want to know why, how and whether we should rethink the whole thing. Because you probably bloody should.

🌹 If something isn’t serving you anymore, let it go and trust what comes next.

🌹 Her problem-solving brain: Where are we now? What does everyone think? What are we trying to achieve? Give her A and B and she’ll map the road between them.

🌹 Apparently some people find her intimidating. Hilarious to those of us who know the warm, deeply caring human underneath that formidable Swedish aura.

🌹 So many dreams she had when she was younger, she’s actually gone and DONE. Younger Irma would look at her now and think, “She’s quite cool.”

And I bloody agree.

Irma, thank you for opening that first door, believing in me and cheering me on when I needed it most.

Without you, I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today.

My Swedish Love 🌹 by @jamie_xx_marks

🌹 Today’s Friday Flowers goes to one of my favourite humans, Margherita @lenmattea .

You know those colleagues who become real-life friends and eventually you can’t imagine life without them? That’s Len.

Our mutual love for 90s R&B may have started it, but it’s the layers to her character that have me hooked for life. If I sound in love, it’s because I totally bloody am.

Len is beautiful, but it’s her warmth and kindness that get you. She makes you feel special, has your back from day one and is a true girls’ girl. My type of girls’ girl.

Her work ethic is also ridiculous. Len only knows 100%. Anything less is basically lazy. 😂

A little insight into my Len:

🌹 Italian with Lebanese heritage, but home is “nowhere and everywhere”. She’d lived in four countries by 19 and London has now had her for 11 years.

🌹 Badass music producer. She tells talented musical people what would sound good, in LOTS of detail, then holds their hand while they make it. Collaboration queen.

🌹 Dann Liebermann & @c.h.a.r.l.e.y__ were two women who championed her early, supporting her.

🌹 Len’s proudest moment. Through PCAM x BalanceTheMix, Len mentored Alexandra, who later said their sessions gave her the confidence to apply for AND LAND her dream job. Tells you everything about Len hey?!

🌹 At 14 she moved abroad barely speaking English, straight into an international school where everything was… English. 😭

After a few tears she gave herself two choices: go home OR throw herself headfirst into it. Speak. Make mistakes. Make friends. See what happens.

She chose option two.

Today she’s fully bilingual and presenting niche musical ideas to clients in London. Hell bloody yeah!

I asked what would make younger Len lose her absolute shit about her life now. Her answer stuck with me: the fear of being left behind made her run faster than she thought she could, but the struggle made her more grateful for what she has and more sensitive to those still trying to prove themselves.

Len, I bloody adore you.

The way you show up for people and the care you bring to everything you do is amazing.

Forever impressed by you! 🌹 by @jamie_xx_marks

Summer with my Girls 😍 by @jamie_xx_marks

🌹 Today’s Friday Flowers goes to the living legend that is @lantasongs Composer, Singer/Songwriter, Social Media extraordinaire and wholesome human.

Story time. When I moved to the UK from South Africa at 15, I had big dreams of being a street dancer. Thankfully, my mum supported that delusion and threw me into every performing arts class going, including Shhbang Studios in West Croydon. R.I.P.

Brit School Kid Kim had no such dreams, but was dragged there by her sister Natalie, danced her way into my life 20+ years ago and we’ve been laughing ever since.

Kim has this gift of making you feel seen, heard, loved and instantly happier.

THIS GIRL CAN is still one of my favourite projects because I got to ‘Bring Your Friend To Work And Show What A Flex They Are’ day and flex she did.

Her words and passion for championing women from underrepresented backgrounds helped shape the poetic re-record we now know and love.

A little insight into my Kim:

🌹 Queer, woman of colour and ADHD. Triple Threat! She spent years thinking her “otherness” was a disadvantage before realising it was her superpower.

🌹 Her neurodiversity gives her the edge to zag when everyone else zigs.

🌹 At 8, she was playing tambourine at her dad’s cover-band gigs and definitely up past bedtime. Watching him change a room with a guitar sparked her love of music.

🌹 Career highlight? Recording Bury It There in her mum’s shed, covered head-to-toe in talcum powder. No manager. No label. No backing. Radio 1 picked it up, the majors called and it eventually led to Polydor.

🌹 Her first music lawyer gave her one brilliant rule: choose the label you could walk into without your make-up on. Translation: go where you can be unapologetically yourself.

🌹 Lil’ Kim would lose her mind knowing she can produce music now.

I’m so proud of you Kim and gassed to witness your journey. Here’s to the next 20 years of LOLs and pretending we’re dancers. 😂

🌹 Friday Flowers: I’ve decided I’m going to brag about the amazing women I know, starting with @iamamymcknight

I’ve wanted to work with Amy for the longest time and was beyond gassed when I finally got the opportunity. She was the badass composer on Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign, reimagining Bodyrockers’ ‘I Like The Way’.

Your girl did us PROUD!

Suffice to say I very quickly fell in love with her, so much so I decided to change agencies to be part of the company repping her as a 515 composer. (JK but low-key not)

Things I’ve loved learning about Amy:
🌹 Half Scottish (Dad), Half Dominican (Mum)
🌹 Queer & Pan Sexual
🌹 DJ’d her first house party at 14, had her first manager at 15 and was playing clubs while taking her GCSEs. Bloody rock and roll.
🌹 Favourite band: DEFTONES
🌹 Big country music fan who dabbled as a songwriter, knowledge that came in handy scoring Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy (OUT NOW on Netflix. Read this, then go watch it).
🌹 Spent her 30th road-tripping America, ending in Nashville at the Bluebird Café watching legendary songwriter Don Schlitz.
🌹 Big Chicken is her first major feature, but her work on award-winning documentary Earthbound remains a proud one.

Story time…

Amy’s Dad was a fashion designer and her biggest fan. When 14-year-old Amy said she didn’t want to go to uni, he secretly gave her early access to the inheritance her Grandad had saved for university… so she could buy records.

And records she bought 😂

Mum was not thrilled when she found out years later, but Amy did eventually go to uni, so win win.

And her Mum? Jazz and soul singer, theatre actress and absolute grafter. At 45, she started from scratch academically and got an Economics degree from LSE to support the family when Amy’s Dad got cancer.

Amy calls her “The Original Baddie” and honestly, the Baddiana energy was clearly inherited.

There’s so much more I could say about this amazing human, but you should just reach out and say hi. Her talent, professionalism and kindness are nothing short of awesome.

Mr & Mrs McKnight would be very proud.

Excited to see what’s next for you my friend by @jamie_xx_marks

When Marley & Halle were tiny bambinos, I struggled to find children’s books where they could see themselves reflected.

There were books, obviously. But finding stories with children of colour at the centre, just being kids, having adventures, being imaginative, having fun and getting to be the heroes felt much harder than it should have been. Like much harder hey!

Soo.... I wrote one for them. 🤎

Had I ever written a book before? Absolutely bloody not 😂 So I started from the place I knew how and wrote it like a song. A very, very long song.

I had big dreams of it becoming a self-published series. It was supposed to be out in the world by now, hopefully making its own teeny tiny contribution to changing the numbers.

And the numbers are changing. The latest UK research found that 24% of children’s books for ages 3–11 had a main character of colour, up from just 7% the year before. The latest BookTrust research into who creates our children’s books found that only 11.7% of creators were people of colour.

Those numbers matter because representation matters. The stories children see themselves in can shape how they see themselves and the world around them, their relationship with reading and even what they imagine is possible for their future.

But regardless of all the shoulda, coulda, woulda’s, it’s beyond exciting watching my girls reach an age where they can now read their story themselves.
Seeing their curls, their beautiful brown skin and little pieces of themselves reflected back at them on the page.

Not because the story is about being different. Not because they have something to learn or explain about who they are.
They just get to be the main characters.

It’s a big part of why I love what I do so much, too.
Whether it’s through the stories I tell, the work I create or the rooms I get to be in, I get to champion, shout, bloody scream about people who look like me, people who look like my girls, and for all women whose voices and experiences haven’t always been centred.

Being seen matters. 🤎

And maybe one day I’ll actually get this very, very, very long song out into the world hey. by @jamie_xx_marks

Tres decisiones completamente distintas.
