Beyond stoked @b.w.r.a.g is coming to NJ in June! I can’t speak highly enough about this organization. After attending in FL last summer, I wanted to share my experience with those considering attending any upcoming events in NJ, NY, NC, FL or others.

The BWRAG event is basically life-saving information meets practicality meets expert instruction. It is NOT academic, boring class work. In fact, it felt more like a “big wave surf fantasy camp” with the world’s best leading the course and the in-water PWC rescue sled module.

When you attend BWRAG you are surrounded by a diverse, yet like-minded, group of watermen and women. From recreational surfers to professional surfers, water rescue personnel, life guards, firefighters (who surf), police officers (who surf), and more, everyone shares a love for the ocean and a common goal of bettering themselves, their families, their fellow surfers, and their communities.

Personally, I was motivated by a few personal experiences that taught me when things go wrong “s#*t happens fast” and you never want to be in position where regret could arise from a lack of preparation and not knowing what to do.

While learning is at the core of BWRAG, I straight up just had fun. Met so many cool people, heard so many cool experiences, and genuinely had a blast. It’s one of those experiences that puts you out of your comfort zone for a minute but by the end you’re inspired, energized, and having beers with 40 new friends.

The caliber of instructors at BWRAG is unparalleled, with renowned figures like @gerglong and @andreamollermaui at the helm. Greg guided me to my personal best breath hold, while chatting with Andrea over a beer about being the first woman to catch a wave in the Eddie was nothing short of inspiring. They not only bring a wealth of knowledge and practical skills to the table but also make themselves totally accessible for 1:1s during the event.

The in-person event in June in Sea Girt, NJ June 8-9th.
