📣 Shout out to a mentor of mine @anikawritesbooks who’s a brilliant writer.

I have a soft spot for historical fiction/suspense.

The German Heiress by Anika Scott swept me into the aftermath of WWII, where survival, secrets, and impossible choices collide. Equal parts historical fiction and mystery, it kept reminding me that the lines between right and wrong are rarely as clear as we’d like them to be.

Who doesn’t love weddings? I took a break from my usual thrillers and suspense and dipped into this gem for my anniversary week. I loved the irony and wry humor, set in one of my favorite cities 🥂⚓️💍

There’s something I love about the end of August. Not just back-to-school (God bless all the teachers!) And not just football and fall baseball starting back up.

It’s the reconnecting. The settling back in.

Yesterday, my sweet friend and badass author @dunlapwrites reminded me of something so simple: engage your boys in the process. Let them see what you’re working on. Talk to them about it. So I did.

And my son told me how proud he is of me. A working mama who wrote a book. (Or…more than one) 🥹

And for my fellow Buckhead friends—you have to read Leigh’s book. With sports back in swing, this one gets two mentions from me in just a few months.

Read it. Trust me. 🖤📚🏈⚾️

Just spent the most incredible week at the Advanced Fiction Institute in Jonesboro, TN with Steven James and Donald Maass, two of the best writing instructors in the country.

And let me tell you, AFI went way beyond a writing course. It was an intensive deep dive into storytelling, what stories truly are, and how to make them great. We studied voice, learned how to bring emotion and tension to the page, and learned how to look at the world around us with fresh new eyes.

My writing will never be the same!

The days were full and fun, and flew by way too fast! Best of all, they were shared with friends, both new and old!

💜 TGIF It’s been an incredible end-of-summer-back-to-school-week and funny enough I took one of these photos on Wednesday, which was National Vinyl Record Day, so I was told 🤷‍♀️

I have a soft spot for music and I curate playlists all the time. But you can never replace the beauty of the old school ways. 🎧

I read today in a line from “You are a Badass”…”bust yourself in your tired, old, broken records right now so you can set about rewriting your stories and creating the kind of life you love.”

I am so so grateful. But nevertheless a perfect reminder to write your own story. 💜
