To say that I’ve been having a great year is an understatement! I’ve made it to @forbes y’all!

Special thanks to @forbestheculture for selecting me as part of the inaugural #50ChampionsList. This list recognizes 50 individuals who work to uplift Black and Brown communities across the country. I don’t do the work that I do for recognition, but it certainly feels amazing for my work to be seen and recognized. It makes me realize that I just have more work to do.

There are so many GIANTS on this list! People who’ve I’d admired from afar and have so much respect for. To each of them, THANK YOU for all that you do. Your work continues to fuel me and our communities are BETTER because of each of you.

Special shout out to @rashaadlambert for co-creating a platform to highlight Black and Brown people. From the work you’re doing with @forbes, @forbestheculture and @culturemakersinc , you are a gem in our community. Thank you King.

Lastly, let me give a big shout out to my company @sayyesbuffalo. Being with this company literally changed my life and it has given me a platform to be able to tell stories about removing barriers to educational attainment. We know that for our communities to thrive, for our economy to thrive, everyone should have equitable pathways to quality education. We’re doing that everyday at Say Yes and I’m proud to play a part.

When @kamalaharris first announced she was running for President back in 2020, I firmly supported her candidacy. At the time I felt that she was the best person to lead us after the previous four dark and tumultuous years under Donald Trump.

While she didn’t prevail as the nominee, Joe saw what I and so many others saw in her, someone with fight, tenacity and would be a great second in command and support the agenda that a majority of people in this country support.

While I’ve had some challenges with her, particularly her fading into the shadows of the presidency over the last 3 and a half years and not being bullish on communicating the many wins of this administration, I still believe that she is the best person to lead this country. Especially considering what’s at stake if Trump wins and the Project 2025 agenda gets implemented.

That said, I proudly support Kamala Harris to be the next President of the United States. I truly hope that people begin to understand what’s at stake during this election. Every four years we hear that the election of that year is the most consequential election of our lifetime. This is unequivocally, undoubtedly that, without question. If we sit idle and not exercise our right to vote, the freedoms we enjoy as a democracy could quite possibly be over.

Let’s work to ensure that doesn’t happen and work to ensure Kamala wins in November.

One thing about @cthagod that I appreciate is how he not only shows up for his people, but how genuine and sincere he is about providing platforms for those he sees potential in. @tamikadmallory’s first book State of Emergency was the first release from his publishing imprint and here we are, several years later with him still riding with her on her soon to be NY Times best selling memoir I Lived To Tell The Story. Thank you for believing in her the way so many of us do.

I’m honored to be a PROSPY Award winner! 🏆

When I learned I was nominated, I was grateful, but I also spent some time reflecting on what this recognition meant. When you’re busy building, serving, and figuring out the next move, you don’t always pause to appreciate how far you’ve come.

Through media, storytelling, and community work, my goal has always been to create opportunities, amplify voices, and help people see what’s possible, particularly in a with a spirit of collaboration. To have that work recognized means more than I can fully express.

Thank you to @shomari_a_james and the @equitynowinc team for this honor. Shomari, knowing that we came from similar upbringings makes the work you’re doing especially meaningful to me. Seeing you expand opportunities for others inspires me to keep pushing forward.

To everyone who has supported my vision, trusted me with their stories, or opened a door along the way, I truly want to say THANK YOU. Nobody builds anything meaningful alone.

I’m proud of this moment. And I’m even more motivated by the work ahead. 🙏🏾

As @shomari_a_james would say, a rising tide raises all ships, and your presence in my life means more to me than you probably realize, bro. I appreciate you! Keep pushing the culture forward.

One of the best investments you can make in yourself is in your social capital! Surround yourself with four winners, and you’ll inevitably be the fifth! Shout out to @theriverclubbf for always showing up and supporting!

One of the highlights of the evening is having one of my best friends present me with my award. Over 20 years and she has been one of the most consistent friends in my life. I appreciate you @ceo_ruthelisa 🫶🏾

Buffalo Kids represented WELL in Maryland last night!

Probably the heaviest award I’ve ever received. lol.

Some collaborations just mean a little more.

As a founding member of @ub.soul, one of the things I’ve always talked about with our founder @nellzatc is how we could continue expanding the vision of what UB Soul, and the @since1846.co merch line brand, could become.

Since 1846 was never just about putting a phrase on a shirt. It represents history. Pride. Culture. And creating something that alumni and students could see themselves in and be proud to wear.

So I had an idea: What if we created a limited-edition Since 1846 snapback with @newerabuffalo ?

Not just any hat. A real collaboration with one of Buffalo’s most iconic brands that could connect UB pride, Buffalo pride, and the identity we’ve been building through Since 1846.

And somehow…we made it happen.

Seeing the Since 1846 x New Era hats arrive just in time for Homecoming Weekend, and then watching the response to them, was a moment I won’t forget. We nearly sold out over the weekend.

But what makes me even more proud is knowing that this collaboration has a purpose beyond the hat itself. Proceeds from the collection will help support UB Soul’s programming and the work we’re building throughout the year.

I’m incredibly grateful to New Era and the New Era Foundation for believing in the vision and collaborating with us to bring this idea to life.

And I’m grateful to my brother Nelly for creating UB Soul and giving those of us who were there from the beginning the space to dream about what this could grow into.

Sometimes you have an idea that sounds ambitious when you first say it out loud.

Then one day, you look around and people are actually wearing it.

That’s a special feeling.

This is what building looks like.

And I truly believe we’re only getting started.

Week ✌🏾 of the @hbsclubofbuffalo Management Development Program is in the books.

This week challenged me to think more deeply about something every leader eventually faces: What do you do when the right decision isn’t obvious?

Our conversations around business ethics reinforced that leadership isn’t always black and white. Sometimes you’re operating in the gray, balancing business realities, relationships, reputation, organizational values, and the impact your decisions can have on others.

One of my biggest takeaways was that strong leadership isn’t about always having the answer.

It’s about knowing when to ask more questions. Knowing when to seek counsel. Understanding who needs to be at the table. And having the courage to make the difficult decision once you have the information you need.

As I continue growing as a leader, I’m realizing more and more that how we make decisions matters just as much as the decisions we make.

Another week of learning, reflection, and bringing lessons back into the work I’m already doing.

Here’s a question I’ve been thinking about that I would like for you guys to answer!

When the “right” decision isn’t clear, what principle or value guides you most as a leader? 👇🏾

At this point, I’m putting myself in contention for Offensive Player of the Year and walking in my purpose God set forth for me.

I’m excited to share that I’ve been accepted into the 2026 Management Development Program through the Harvard Business School Club of Buffalo! @hbsclubofbuffalo

As I continue to grow as an entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, and community leader, I’ve become increasingly intentional about investing in my own development. Leadership requires us to keep learning, challenging our thinking, and preparing ourselves for the next level of responsibility.

Over the next 12 weeks, I’ll have the opportunity to dive deeper into leadership, strategy, financial decision-making, marketing, operations, ethics, and organizational management through an intensive case-based learning experience.

What excites me most is being able to take what I learn and apply it directly to the businesses, organizations, teams, and community initiatives I’m fortunate to help lead.

There’s always another level to grow into.

I’m grateful for the opportunity, excited for the challenge, and ready to get to work. 📚💼

Sidebar: Am I allowed to wear Harvard merch now? 🤣

The measure of a man is not found in the title he holds, but in the responsibility he is willing to carry. Leadership begins when he stops waiting for someone else to step forward and decides, ‘I will.”

🙋🏾‍♂️I WILL!
