An X-Lab from Greg's Lab!

The MT2 is a very capable bike.... but do we want an okay ride? With strategic upgrades to make it lighter, faster and look more aggressive, we now present "Jaya" an upgraded MT2 with real XC features:
 - Tubeless Set-Up
 - Aggressive Cockpit
 - Race Ride Position
 - 1Kg Lighter than stock

Test this ride and feel the difference. My NBD that can be your own NBD!

@sportstockph can help you set-up and customize all X-Lab bikes. Special thanks to our master builders at @sixninecycles.

Was able to squeeze in a ride with #Petebikes Racing Team! Finally, after dealing with our shop’s renovations and upgrades. So stoked with the Santa Cruz Hightower V4 equipped with the reliable #Fox suspensions, #SRAM XX1 drivetrain, the downhill breaking power of #Shimano XTR.

Special mention to Boss Jian for lending me his colorful i9 wheelset wrapped with #Vittoria tires.

Want an all rounder bike too? From all mountain to downhill aggressive riding, the Santa Cruz Hightower surely performs without a doubt.

Train Bacolod Tri Camp done and dusted! Volume is in the training bank! We shocked the system 🚀

Thank you very much Train Tri Team and @jamiram for putting this camp together! It was a joy working with @kristianelim, an athlete and coach I've always looked up to. So happy to have imparted knowlege to new faces, beginner, and advanced triathletes alike while learning a few things along the way.

It really felt like a full circle moment when I was asked to coach for Train, since the people who helped me and my dad get into triathlon were from the Train Team @ylangskie. Train really served as an inspiration while we were beginners starting out. Thank you very much @jemsdean for the opportunity! Till the next one!

Tour Divide 2023.

It’s no secret that I usually come to races ill-prepared ,whether it be related to training, gear or navigation. This tour was no different. It’s probably my way of leaving room for miracles to happen. And they did. Countless times.

Ultra-distance events have always been my default quiet time with Lord. This time around though it felt more like a pilgrimage than anything else I’ve done before. Being in the wilderness added both fear and elation to this adventure. At times, it felt more spiritual than physical - holding tightly to what limited scripture I had in my quiver. Buti na nga lang hindi lang “Jesus wept.” alam ko.

When you strip yourself of all luxuries and focus on living day to day from one resupply point to another, you tend to be more grateful for the simplest of things. A bottle of water or even just cloud cover on an extremely hot day. All envy and desire for material objects took a backseat and were replaced with gratefulness and contentment for the life I’ve been given.

I’m as baffled as most of my friends or any of you who question why or how I do what I do. All I know is that as long as you take it a day at a time with much prayer, and ride/walk with purpose, you can take that long and narrow trail that scares you the most.

We made it. And in the process, countless of malnourished children all over the Philippines, my country whom I carry the flag with pride, will be fed. Thank you to NVC for all you do and giving my adventure an even deeper purpose beyond myself. Thank you also to all who contributed to this journey and provided that added motivation I needed to see this journey through. I truly appreciate it. God bless you and your families!

It's been a hectic couple of days leading up to the Tour Divide. Despite all the visa woes, we arrived in Canada six hours before the Grand Depart of the Tour Divide. It's still on though. I'll be starting in less than two hours. A big thank you to everyone who helped and kept checking in .

Just for those who aren't aware. The Tour Divide is a bikepacking race that starts in Banff, Canada and ends in Antelope Wells, New Mexico. It's a big task with a lot ot moving parts. A lot can happen. It's both frightening and fun at the same time.

This time around we are making this race a little more special and count a little bit more. I am riding for a purpose. The NVC Foundation's Mingo Meal feeding program feeds malnourished children in Negros Island and all over the Philippines. I am riding to help feed these future athletes.

Each Mingo meal costs 8 pesos. For pledges and donations see link on my bio. by @jamiram

2022 Absa Cape Epic

It's been said that this edition was one of the toughest so far. The race that measures all, they say. 657km with 17,250m of elevation gain under the harsh african sun and gusts of wind from all directions. It was the perfect recipe for what bradie and I would call an adventure.

We lived in tents in the race village for seven nights. We wake up at 5am each morning, have breakfast, change and get ready to start by 7:20am. Each stage would usually last around 5-7 hours. As soon as we arrive, our bikes are washed and we're offered our lunch in a bag. Recovery starts from 2pm onwards. Lights out at 8pm then repeat. It sounds tiring but after a few days of this routine, you get hooked. Your body adapts. You enjoy the experience more.

This is why we love multi-day events. You have time. Time to relish each moment. Meet like-minded individuals from different walks of life and show them what Filipinos are like too. Mga loko-loko at patawa sa karera.

Ride more.
Enjoy more.

These were taken during the Absa Cape Epic in 2017. I'd usually sleep like a baby the night before each race. That was my superpower, he said. Tonight is different.

I have missed you being around, Dad. How you would always pray before races. How you would check on our bikes and gear. How you would give your pep talk kahit minsan hindi applicable sa karera ko. And of course how you'd always be waiting at the finish line.

It's strange.. I get a few brief moments in races when I swear I could hear you cheering. That's one reason why I love what I do and I'll probably keep doing this as long as I could still hear that voice. Which might be til I'm your age. 😅 by @jamiram

I really have to reassess my thought process when deciding on the type of rides we do. Not sure if I'm blessed or cursed with friends that say yes to whatever my brain concocts..

Minsan nasa pana rin talaga.😅
