Multicolored monkey grasshopper

Every encounter with this colorful hopper in the Risaralda region of Colombia felt unreal - like finding a living piece of treasure. They belong to an ancient lineage of insects that still feeds mainly on primitive plants like ferns. They look as if they were hand-painted with the most vibrant colors, and I could have watched them for as long as time - or this little creature - would allow. It was an unforgettable reminder of just how wonderfully creative nature can be!

Každé setkání s tímto barevným skokanem v kolumbijské oblasti Risaralda bylo neskutečné - jako najít živý poklad. Patří k prastaré skupině hmyzu, která se dodnes živí hlavně pravěkými rostlinami, jako jsou kapradiny. Vypadají, jako by je někdo ručně namaloval těmi nejzářivějšími barvami, a vždycky bych je dokázal pozorovat tak dlouho, jak jen by mi to čas nebo tenhle malý tvor dovolil. Byla to nezapomenutelná připomínka toho, jak úžasně tvořivá příroda dokáže být!

Summer Time
Léta čas

Do you also get the feeling that this summer is testing our limits? Both day and night temperatures have long exceeded bearable levels, and even in the shade, it's no bed of roses. Fortunately, on Fuerteventura, the local wind ensures that, even in the most intense heat, the coastline remains incredibly pleasant.

Taky máte pocit, že nás letošní léto zkouší, co vydržíme? Denní i noční horka už dávno přesáhla únosné hranice a ani ve stínu to není žádný med. Naštěstí na Fuerteventuře Místní vítr i v tom největším žáru zařídí, že je na pobřeží neskutečně příjemně.

Peak of Summer
Vrcholné léto

Days when temperatures soar toward 40°C can be long and exhausting. Yet, this time of year holds an irreplaceable charm for me. In the late afternoon, I love heading out on foot or by bike among the sun-drenched fields, soaking in the warm, peaceful energy of these golden days.

Dny, kdy teploty šplhají k čtyřicítkám, bývají dlouhé a vyčerpávající. Přesto má pro mě tohle období neopakovatelné kouzlo. Rád se v podvečer vydávám pěšky nebo na kole mezi rozpálená pole a nasávám tu hřejivou, klidnou energii prosluněných dnů.

Our native carnivore, which lures insects with shimmering droplets that resemble dew. But as soon as a prey lands on its leaf, the trap snaps shut.

Naší domácí masožravka, která láká hmyz na třpytivé kapky připomínající rosu. Jakmile ale oběť usedne na její list, past sklapne.
