I did tesearch on the islands of Java and Bali for my next romantic archive thriller "Contested will", starring Irina Petrova, the Iron Archive Lady, I discovered that when it comes to cooking, Indonesians are the very berst. On second thoughts - maybe the Bulgarians do beat them. In my travel group, rice and chicken were the most popular dishes ordered at restaurants. After a week, I was even eating rice for breakfast. It was delicious. And it goes very well with Bintang beer, The national airline Garuda Indonesia serves it during their 15 hours plane travel. by @janburuma

Life in the tropics is different. The weather is roughly the same 365 days a year. Between 25 and 30 degrees. It gets light around 6 a.m. It gets dark around 6 p.m. It’s dark but not cold. There are no long summer evenings with plenty of light, nor are there short, cold winter evenings. Your pace automatically slows down; otherwise, you won’t be able to keep it up. Time and appointments are flexible here. Breakfast usually starts around 6:30 a.m., but sometimes I was up earlier and could just get started. by @janburuma

WIFI on Bali not safe ? ! Bali, the most well known Indonesian island, is supposed to be a digital nomad paradise. Maybe. But you do need safe WIFI. The hotels that I stayed, had all kinds of service. But not safe WIFi. Open WIFi sounds nice, but it is not safe. So I felt very much limited to do some work. I sent my ICT company a message about VPN. Installation was much easier than I thought. I will not go back to Bali. But on any other Indonesian island I hope to work remotely, and safely. by @janburuma

Indonesian Flex Time Javanese people are very flexible when it comes to time and appointments. I recognize this from Bulgaria, where I’ve been many times. We took the train twice in Java, and it ran quite punctually according to the schedule. An older fellow traveler, who knows Java well, explained the situation. The bottom line is this: if a Javanese person says, “I’ll be there at 10 o’clock,” that’s what they mean. A quarter past ten is perfectly on time for a Javanese person. A Bulgarian would do the same. Гнучкість щодо часу Яванці дуже гнучкі щодо часу та домовленостей. Мені це знайоме з Болгарії, де я бував дуже часто. Двічі ми подорожували по Яві поїздом, і він курсував досить точно за розкладом. Один із старших попутників, який добре знає Яву, дав пояснення. Суть справи така: якщо яванець каже «я буду о 10-й», то так і має бути. Чверть на одинадцяту для яванця — це цілком вчасно. Visa - Mistake It all went wrong with the visum for Indonesia - and yet, it didn’t. At the Jakarta airport, I’d purchased the “visa on arrival” in five minutes. But things went wrong at the automated customs gates. They just did not go open. After a lot of back-and-forth questions, it turned out I still had to enter my visa information. That process was digital only and it was time consuming. With some friendly help, I finally got it sorted, but I thought to myself—I really should have done that online back in the Netherlands. The whole process took so long that there were only a few suitcases left on the baggage belts. Mine was among them. After that, it took quite a bit of searching to find the exit, I was sent in the wrong direction and I had to ask a lot of questions to find the TUI travel group. Този процес беше изцяло дигитален и отне много време. С малко приятелска помощ най-накрая успях да се справя, но си помислих – наистина трябваше да го направя онлайн още в Нидерландия. Цялата процедура отне толкова много време, че на лентите за багаж бяха останали само няколко куфара. Моят беше сред тях. След това ми отне доста време да намеря изхода, насочиха ме в грешната посока и трябваше да задавам много въпроси, за да намеря групата на TUI. by @janburuma
