A few years ago, I was put in touch with @yolandaedwards by our mutual friends Rodrigo and Mai Soto. I met up with Yolanda and her brilliant husband Matt at a coffee shop round the corner from my house, and we talked about the wonderful hustle of building up content businesses in niche areas, the joys of substack versus newsletters, websites and books, how to develop meaningful communities... generally a wonderful conversation that felt immediately like we had known each other for years.

So I could not be happier to have been interviewed for her brilliant, inspiring YOLO Journal, easily one of the best travel sites out there (I first used it for their Berlin Black Book, and have been back many many times since).

Come join as we talk about my upcoming book with Peter Aaron, Bordeaux Chronicle, and generally chat about new names and new ideas in the Bordeaux wine region.

5 YEARS. 5 EDITIONS. AND A DREAM THAT REFUSED TO STAY A DREAM. ❤️🍷

When Jane Anson and I started Bordeaux Mentor Week, we didn't have a blueprint.

We simply had a belief:

Talent should never be limited by geography, finances, race, gender or access.

Five editions later, we look back and realise just how powerful that belief has become.

But dreams like this don't happen because of two people,
Thank you Tanmay Rathod, Chef Kafui and Toni, you made things look easy but we know the work behind every detail.

We started with a dream.

And five years later, the dream has a community.

We are changing the wine world one mentee at a time by not recognising the word NO!

Here’s to the next five years.

The incredible 1926 vintage of Seppeltsfield marks the 49th consecutive Para Vintage Tawny release from the Centennial Cellar. : a wine laid down exactly a century ago under a mandate from Benno Seppelt, who decreed it could not be touched for 100 years — and never tasted it himself.

To celebrate its release, join us for a wonderful podcast with Charlie Seppelt, Benno’s great-great-grandson and today a winemaker at the estate.

New episode is up — Jane tastes the Seppeltsfield 1926 Para Vintage Tawny with Charlie Seppelt, fifth generation of the family that laid it down.

The rule, set in 1878: don't touch it for 100 years.

They kept that promise through two world wars, a depression, and a change of ownership — and it's never once been broken.
