Romantic rooftops, distant sea views and historic buildings come together in the work of Jane Canfield, where carefully considered colour and architectural form evoke a sense of nostalgia and the enduring charm of places shaped by time.

Drawing inspiration from coastal communities and forgotten corners, Jane captures the character of seaside cottages, weathered rooflines and the gentle silhouettes of trees against the coastal sky. Her paintings move beyond faithful representation, transforming familiar scenes into personal interpretations rich in atmosphere, memory and quiet beauty.

Two of my recent paintings sold over two days👌🏻 thank you @day_gallery_blackheath for the nice run! And I hope that they bring many years of enjoyment to the new owners. It’s time to introduce our new little man. Meet Lester! He has a wonky wheel, so we enjoy going to the wonderful @bluemountainsanimalrehab and we are seeing the benefits already. He came to us thanks to @denise_at_paws . Can you believe he was nearly euthanaised as the owner couldn’t afford his op (Femoral Head Osteopathy) but the vet, thank fully reached out to @denise_at_paws who paid for his operation and yep, the old owner spent the money she could have spent on his surgery on buying another pup. Her loss is definitely our gain. He’s fitted into the pack beautifully. 🩷 by @janecanfield_

My little 9x5 (selected into the @waverleyartschool 9x5 art prize) is currently on exhibition in Sydney. ‘Donkey Mountain’ based on a wonderful spur of rock that runs through the Wolgan Valley NSW. Not far from my home. You can have a squiz online as well and see the awesome curated works from some amazing artists. Everyone can find space to hang a little 9x5! 😃

As a Blue Mountains woman of a certain age, I’ve seen a couple of these nutty proposals over the years. Today is the last day to put your submission in people! If you want Maccas, you can go to Blaxland, or… Lithgow. In fact apparently there are going to be two at Lithgow. Yep, you won’t even have to cross the road. 😳

For 20 years, my recently departed Mum worked @bluemountainscitycouncil for the City Engineer and they fought hard to keep the blandness out of the upper mountains, which is known for its cafes, bakeries and funky restaurants. If you want to keep it that way, please get your letter in! 💪🏼 #mcdonalds keep your poisonous and cruelly gained ‘food’ out of our beautiful Mountains! by @janecanfield_
