The problem designers are facing right now isn’t using Al
it’s that no companies are using Al the same way.
Which leads designers (especially designer dealing with ai restrictions) feeling behind
Even though there is no standard to be behind from.
Our skills are not the problem
we are still working to solve business problems while keeping our users in mind.
It’s the tools, the noise, and how we are getting there that’s increasing our anxiety.
And the only way to solve it is to try to drown out the noise, understand that Al is just a tool and figure out how you can adapt it to your unique needs.
Do you agree?
How are you building your process around your tool restrictions?

Hello, this is Jane

making content is weird, there are times where it feels like you are hitting a wall and nothing seems to be working.

but i remember why I started posting, and i need to look inward instead of following the next trends.

so here is a re-introduction

i’m a senior UX designer. i’ve burned out, questioned everything, and slowly found my way back to my creative self

i make content for designers who are keeping up with everything and still feel like they’re falling behind.

here’s what you’ll see on this page:

— real tips on how to stay grounded, not just recap of accomplishments.
— how i actually make decisions (including the messy ones)
— behind-the-scenes of real projects, in real time
— honest talk about burnout, AI, and what sustainable work looks like day to day
— craft content that teaches you *why* something works, not just what looks good

i don’t have it all figured out. but i know what it feels like to be where you are.

if any of those resonate with you, this page is for you

🌱🌱

The design process is dead.
Or is it?
It might be for some companies but I know from my UX meet up that no company uses AI in their design process the same way.
For my fellow designers who are working in large enterprises product that has a lot more restrictions on AI usage, how do you and your team leverage AI in your process?

My relationship with ai is complicated

I love making things and looking at all the creative projects people create blows my mind.

But for me, the hardest part isn’t prompting itself

The hard part finding what works for me in the sea of tool while trying not to overthinking who I am in the creative prpcess

Am I still designing if AI is doing the work?

So for this month I decide to stop thinking about it, and just start to have fun with the tools

And I will be doing that by referencing other creative ai tinker (@janustiu @jeongyoon.design @design4me__ @sarahli.mp3 just to name a few)to see what they are making

Comment to let me know who is your favourite ai creator that I should look at!

The 4 types of designers in 2026!
In all seriousness we are figuring out as we go, one day you might be more confident in your tinker process but the next day it might feel overwhelming again.
It’s all part of the process 🌱
Did you spot yourself in any of theses?
Let me know if there is any designer archetypes that I missed

September was my hardest month content wise.

Maybe because it started on a high note and I was having a lot of expectations.

Or maybe I was simply burnout.

But I thought many time before I hit the share button that “this is going to be my last reel.”

But then I knew I have things I want to share, and I might be just need to lay back a bit.

So no backing out, progress and consistency bets one time vitality.

Cheers to a bigger October, hope you follow along to my journey 💚

Which one of these are you guilty of doing?

I know I am definitely guilty most of them at one point or another 🫣

i was so excited to start vibe coding early this year.

no coding background, just prompts

and suddenly i was shipping visuals and mockups i never thought i could make.

it felt incredible.

but the more i worked, looking at ai generating output that i couldn’t fix while missing having full control over where exactly to move things

i started wondering: was i excited about the work, or just the shiny feeling of moving fast?

That question turned into my first newsletter issue — on AI, designer identity, and what we’re actually falling for when a tool feels this easy.

comment “shiny” if you’ve felt the same thing lately.

“Make it pop more.”

one of the most headache-inducing pieces of feedback we get as designers.

I got this feedback on a simple card I was designing, and although I can see the reason to want to make something more appealing,

but something “pretty” doesn’t automatically mean user-friendly.

And lately, with everyone able to prompt something interactive with AI, I keep coming back to the same question: are we here to make things pretty?

no. the plot of our story is bigger than that.

it’s not just about interaction. it’s whether the thing works for the business.

Whether it works for someone using a screen reader.

Whether it solves the actual goal sitting underneath the bullet points.

Do you feel like there is more emphasis on visual now because of AI?

There is so much information online about how to start learning AI that it feels overwhelming to know where to start.

Instead of jumping to start a vibe coding project

then hating yourself for it to “not look right” after the 100 prompts.

Try to focus on looking at what tools people are using, start with AI integrations, then work on a small project/understand a workflow.

Then every day

- limit your “research time”
- test something small to build on your project

Once a week

- finish something (doesn’t have to be to grand or perfect)
- document what you have learned
- plan for what’s missing

once a month

- audit what tools you are using
- Refine your own process based on what worked and what didn’t
- share what you made (social media or just with friends)

Comment “learn” for resources.
