yes we came for the lineup (hello! Bikini Kill, Olivia Rodrigo, Doechii, and Chappel Roan in one go?) but more so for the magic.

as a trip of sisters with a strong woman single mother raising us the past 10 years, we know deep in our bones daisy chain is the place to be. there is real power when women come together. we have fun and we put real work.

welp jane did put real work to get these tickets. bc it was all sold out during pre-sale, girl did 30 hours of volunteer shifts with LA works so we could have the lottery chance to win these tickets.

going crazy for this zine bc i’ve been thinking of starting my own zine/mail club thing for a few months. let’s see if it comes to fruition.

ok some people will say melinda gates matching by an additional $10m is a drop in the bucket compared to her net worth. true, but nominal value should not be the focus alone (coming from someone who’s been working in philanthropy for the past year or so).

the festival is not merely about donating to the 10 NGOs, it’s about diffusing the ownership of supporting one another towards each festival participant. it made the issue closer, and about the person standing next to them watching the lineup vs someone far away in the abstract. this impact cannot be quantified bc it is felt. girl magic i tell ya.

Inviting everyone to congrats and applaud mamzie for her hard work on sending her three daughters abroad despite everything she went through. Not forgetting the (one and only) amazing support system(s) of mine, kaster and kamon.

While it is my graduation, i do believe that it is a bigger achievement to my, current and always will be, three most important people in my life. Losing dad years ago, forced me to learn the harsh reality of the real world faster than anyone. Yet, despite my hardheadedness and spoiledbrat-ness, they’re there. Easy to say, jane wouldn’t be how she is right now without the guidance of kaster. Also, would probably not survive in the head without kamon being there to listen to every tiny bits of details of her days. And most importantly, she for sure, would not be here without mam pushing through life and allowing @nyuniversity to actually happen.

So yes, i’m celebrating them and thanking the sunshine daisies fam for sponsoring my life in every kind of way🌼🌼
