I had the privilege of giving a copy of my new book, Raising Children Without Losing Each Other, to two very special friends, Janet and Casey.

Like so many families, life has asked a lot of them. They are raising their daughter, caring for their elderly mother, and opening their home and hearts to another family member and his young daughters during a difficult time.

Watching them reminded me why I wrote this book.

Families don’t become stronger because life is easy. They become stronger because they choose love, patience, communication, and grace—even when life feels overwhelming.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a mediator is this:

The greatest gift parents can give their children is protecting their relationship with each other.

Children grow up.
Parents grow older.
Circumstances change.

But if the couple continues to communicate, support one another, and remember they are on the same team, the entire family becomes stronger.

Janet and Kasey, thank you for allowing me to share this book with you. I hope it offers encouragement, practical tools, and hope for the journey ahead.

If you’re raising children, caring for aging parents, helping extended family, or simply trying to hold your family together through life’s challenges, please know this:

There is hope.

Love each other.
Talk to each other.
Protect your relationship.
Your children are watching, learning, and growing from the example you set.
