McCormack is proud to have delivered the feature lighting installation Beacon at 300 La Trobe Street, Melbourne.

Congratulations to lighting designer @janflooklighting on receiving a NY Design Award in the Architectural Lighting: Interior – Retail & Commercial category.

Beacon is a five-storey installation that rises through the building’s central void, creating a strong arrival moment and drawing the eye upward from the point of entry.

Thank you to @graypuksand for the design direction, and well done to everyone involved in bringing the project to life.

Just spent the evening completely lost in photos and videos from Noor Riyadh 2025 and James Turrell’s new desert chambers in AlUla… and honestly, I’m obsessed.
There’s something deeply moving about a lighting installation that does more than light a room.

When a single piece can quiet a chaotic atrium, guide hundreds of people without a single sign, soften acoustics, shift colour with the sunset, and still leave you standing there with your mouth open… that’s magic.

Wang Yuyang’s floating fluorescent “feathers” drifting in slow motion, fuse* turning entire facades into breathing moons, Turrell making the sky feel close enough to touch
I keep thinking: this is why I fell in love with this profession.
Light isn’t decoration anymore. It’s the heartbeat of the space.

Seems like only yesterday we were installing this. Great to see this award winning fixturestill dominating it’s space and shining on! So good to be working again with famous Lend Lease crew. "Cloud 9"

The installation is a visually stunning, refined and poetic piece. An anodized tube expanse forms an undulating cloud surrounding a cascading water feature. The observer experiences dappled light that filters through the moire of suspended tubes like the sun through a cloud. Perhaps the installation’s best measure of success is the intrigued shoppers, phones in hand, getting photos for their socials.
