What was going to be a stained stripe had to be pivoted after the existing white paint was so heavily ingrained into the very thin pine veneer that there was no getting it out!

The drawer fronts took the stain dreadfully and ended up super blotchy. So, a double pivot into painted drawers with cascading opposing stripes.

Finished with espresso-painted handles and a varnished timber base, which will receive one more coat…now I’ve seen it in the sun.

It’s got a really retro vibe to it and I’m pretty happy with where it ended up.

Why do I stripe furniture every day?

It started as a side hustle. I’d wait until my kids were asleep, then I’d go out onto the porch from until midnight, sanding, stripping, painting, figuring it out as I went.

I loved seeing people restore old pieces, but I wanted to create something that felt different. So I leaned into bold stripes, colour and personality instead. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being just a side hustle. It’s given me skills I never thought I’d have and it lets me work for myself, while being home with my kids.

I get to take forgotten 90’s furniture that was headed for landfill and turn it into one of a kind pieces made just for someone’s home. It’s not the easiest way to make a living but I’m hooked.

And that’s why I do this every day.

Launch Update 🚀

I’m not disappointed, but it has been hard shutting out the noise of other creators’ 2nd or 3rd launches doing insanely well!

I’m really happy with what this can teach someone and if you guys are happy just watching me flip rather than doing it yourself then I know what to do next, FLIP MORE SHIT!

Until then, I hope the 5 buyers are happy with what they got!

Flipping furniture this way looks hard but it’s all in the knowledge. It’s all in the prep and doing the steps in the right order. That’s how you get those clean, symmetrical lines (and I love a clean line).

I call this one “purple rain” ☔️

A pivot from restoring because it isn’t always possible but when I wasn’t about to pop a coat of sage or charcoal on this and be done. Nope she deserved to shine!

DON’T FLIP BORING FURNITURE!

Add some colour in your drawers, a lick of paint on those awful 90’s pine dressers we all skip in marketplace listings. Or give a stain stripe a go. I assure you, you’re not ruining it just giving it another life that you can ALWAYS change later.

Character and custom designs are in because people want more of themselves in their own space!

Flipping furniture doesn’t have to be white, charcoal and sage you know and it’s not as hard as you think!

I'm not a pro. I'm a mum of 5 who started painting stripes after the kids were asleep, out on the porch until midnight, figuring it out as I went.

And I can't afford an $800 change table either. That's the whole reason I do this myself. A one-off piece for the price of some paint and a bit of patience.

So the guide is everything I had to work out the hard way: the tools you actually need, every step, in order
what to do when paint bleeds, and
the maths that keeps your stripes symmetrical!

Stripes are simple. Clean lines come from the prep and the measuring, and nobody tells you that part.

yeah, I made all of these because why is furniture so expensive?? and the bold stuff is even more, I’m not paying $1.5K for a set of drawers with stripes on it when I own tape.

I wrote down exactly how I do mine. Every. Step. I’ve learnt the hard way over the last three years so your first set doesn’t fail like I did.
