You don’t need three weeks of PTO to spend three weeks in Portugal. I loved Portugal so much, I came back twice in 2 months, taking just 4 days off.

The Europe–North America time difference works completely in your favour. 4 to 6pm there was 8 to 10am for my team, which covered all my meetings in one late-afternoon block. Leaving the entire day beforehand to be all mine! 😊

I ran my days backwards: Flea market mornings, golfing on insane coastal terrain, beach visits whenever I needed a reset, wandering Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve like a local. The afternoon meetings became the break from exploring and travelling, not the other way round.

If you’ve got a remote job, the time zone everyone treats as the dealbreaker is the exact reason this works. The flexibility to enjoy a full day before working is really empowering. It’s the most high-agency my life has felt

definitely not your typical conference

X-Summit brings together founders and thought leaders across AI, tech, business, and science.
people building and sharing their most passionate work

but it’s not just talks and panels
from conversations about the future of technology and the world,
paired with experiences that bring people together in a different way —
cacao meditations, scent therapy, long dinners, beautifully curated spaces,
with TONS of unexpected moments through and through.

set in places like Château Villette,
private after-hours at Musée Rodin,
and lunches at the infamous Ritz

with experiences that naturally bring conversations to a more personal level, bringing people together differently

some nights just don’t feel real
and this was one of them

X-Summit 2025 felt like it was just yesterday
and looking forward to the next one around the corner

going through these moments again made me realize how much of it stayed with me

it expanded my perspective so much more than I expected

I used to believe that if you wanted something in life,
it had to be planned out perfectly.

like there was a “right” order to everything.

finish school.
get work experience.
build stability.
then maybe… you can start living.

I think this is the narrative most of us were taught.

so we keep pushing things further out —
travel, flexibility, experiences… all filed under “later.”

until one day, you wake up and realize
you’ve built a life that looks right on paper…
but doesn’t fully feel like yours.

stuck in the rat race,
waiting for a version of life that always feels just out of reach.

so one day, I picked a random date
and decided it would be the start of my sabbatical.

not because it was the “perfect time”
but because I couldn’t keep waiting for one.

because the truth is —
perfect timing doesn’t exist.

life doesn’t just happen when you’re ready for it.
you have to choose it. create it. step into it.

watching the sunrise over Mt. Batur,
I had this quiet realization:

this moment didn’t come from perfect planning.
it came from choosing to stop waiting.

not another life.
not someday.

this one.

some off-grid moments from bali

- sunrise wakeup at Padar Island (the 3 peaks!); following natural circadium w/ best sunsets
- randomly stumbling on a micro farm of goats & friends
- locals cooking out in nature (using river water & didn’t get Bali belly)
- salt in the air and hair, always
- days that unfolded naturally
