Another Birth / feature film / directed by Isabelle Kalandar
Tajikistan, USA, Qatar / 2025

What a wild ride this project was! My first fictional feature film as a DP and quite the adventure in every aspect. Now, after a long post production, it’s great to see that it’s finally going places. It had its world premiere in the official competition of @busanfilmfest, got honored with the @fipresci award at @bishkekfilmfest and I even got awarded with a special diploma for cinematography at Zabaikalskiy International Film Festival. 😌

Special thanks to @lassefrobese, @moritz.pflock, @aaronkilian and @mandorie for helping me maintain my sanity and keeping the visual departments machine running! 🫶

And to @thelightbridge for providing us with the CRLS kit that essentially completely shaped the lighting style of the film. taken in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province by @janisbrod

Grainy postcards from Madeira (watch with sound! 🔊)
In the beginning of this year, @mandorie and I spent a week on this beautiful island and I had a faulty super-8 camera and a roll of Ektachrome 100D with me. The majority of what I shot was underexposed due to a shutter issue with the camera, but somehow I still really like how it turned out. 🌞

New work (DOP/edit/grading) for „Gespenst“ by @vonwegenlisbeth feat. @luvre47 out now!
Shooting this music video of a plastic bag flying through empty places in the city was basically the definition of „trust the process“ and tbh in the beginning I never thought it could turn out as nice as it did. Just the two of us and a leaf blower, sometimes with the help of (or fighting against) the actual wind, it was always exciting to see what moves our main actor will present to us next.

Concept/director: Doz Zschäbitz
DOP/edit/grading: 🫡

Please go watch the whole video on YouTube in full screen and not in the size of a stamp on Instagram, thanks. 🙃 taken in Berlin, Germany by @janisbrod

Shooting „Madame Tussauds“ for @vonwegenlisbeth was a special experience for sure - no production design, no lighting, just an humongous zoom lens and a very tall building to film from. With the band usually being several hundred meters away somewhere on the streets and not knowing what the camera sees, communication was sometimes challenging to say the least. 🫠 but it definitely added some unique perspectives and a certain rawness due to the bypassers not having a clue that a film shoot is taking place.
