Post-World War II, Detroiters enjoyed a lively theater scene. Vaudeville—traveling variety shows featuring comedy, acrobatics, and magic acts—was replaced by movies. But the rivalry for Broadway plays and musicals heated up between the Shubert Organization and the Nederlander family. My story, THE TICKET GIRL, highlights the competition between theaters like the Lafayette and the Cass during the 1940s when the Nederlanders used their Detroit base to build one of the world's largest theatrical empires. Theater remains strong in Detroit today, but both of these classic theaters were demolished.

RIVER AVENUE, published five years ago this month, keeps finding new readers. The story of six children left by their mother in 1930's Pennsylvania coal country has made its way to the UK. A reader emailed: "What stood out most was Dan’s journey, the weight of responsibility placed on him at such a young age, and the way he navigates family trauma while trying to hold everything together. His struggle feels grounded and real, especially as he confronts both his father and the hidden truths within his family." The feedback, and the reviews, keep me going. Thank you, readers! Available to any bookstore through Ingram, online at Amazon, B&N, Indiebound.

I proudly gifted signed copies of my novels to my childhood library, Blair Memorial, in Clawson, Michigan, and my local home library, in Clearwater Beach, Florida. I grew up in the library, and libraries make my books accessible to all readers. If you don’t find my books in your library, ask them to order through Ingram.

I had a great time meeting and talking with Michigan readers, introducing them to THE TICKET GIRL, and sharing the Detroit locations featured in my historical fiction novels. Thank you @detroit.history for the cover photo and the many photos I used for inspiration. Loved seeing my book at @thedetroitshoppe amidst the iconic local products. Except for a few smoky days, we had a beautiful Michigan summer experience.

With fellow members of the Beach Book Club, I presented signed copies of my three novels to Librarian Leslie Walbolt to be added to the collection in the Beach Library, being replenished in the aftermath of the 2024 hurricanes. Happy to contribute to the revival of this wonderful community library. taken in Clearwater Beach by @janmwaltonauthor

Since the release of my new novel one week ago, I've been so touched and grateful to hear from many of my past readers, and new ones, about how excited they are to read THE TICKET GIRL. Writing is what I love, and the icing on the cake is when people relate to my work and enjoy my stories. Thank you!
