KNITaly 2026 Day 4: Sottomarina

A free day! 😁 We started at 06.50 to see the sun get up. Running on the beach is strenuous! Rest of the day was knitting, walking on the beach, just taking it easy. We saw also a lot of parents fetching their kids from school (in Italy kids are not allowed to walk alone on the streets...). Loads of good food today also.

KNITaly 2026 Day 3: Venice

We took a boat from Chioggia to Venice, had a walk with a guide for 1,5 hours after which we concentrated mostly on drinking, eating and knitting. Loads of people in San Marco -area but we took ourselves quickly to Castello where the streets were much quieter. Lovely sunset on the boat ride back. 😊

KNITaly 2026 Day 2: Sottomarina & Chioggia

First day started nicely with Francesco from @darkomenyarn visiting us with loads of beautiful yarn.

In the afternoon we took a walk to the centre of Chioggia, which is understandably called Little Venice. Gelato, pasta and a Hugo later we were ready to spend the rest of the day at the beach in Sottomarina.

Dinner at the hotel consisted always of four courses so we definitely didn't go to bed hungry.

KNITaly 2026 Day 1: Travel day

I met my cousin @kertilaa at the airport where we enjoyed late lunch at the Platinum Corner before the flights. The flight was operated by JetTime @flyjettimecom , and I must say that even though we flew Boeing 737, I was impressed. The service was impeccable and the stewardesses even had time to stop to chat about knitting (both ladies were knitters themselves).

We landed in Venice just before the sunset so we got to enjoy the view of the city in the wonderful evening light.

1,5 hours travel to Sottomarina in Chioggia where we would stay at the hotel La Tegnùe and where a late dinner was waiting for us.

Finished during #knitaly2026 . #kesäpaitabyvillapesuohjelma is knit in Pulu from @frillafelt in colourway "Olisitpa sylissäni". Two skeins is enough for a summery, loose fit top.
A really nice basic pattern from @villapesuohjelma.

My precious bling-bling sleeveshawl, Silvia designed by @knitsbetweenpines. I knit this in @true.crime.yarns Party in colourway 'Knives Out'.

I must have done something weird after half the garment as I ran out of yarn and I had to go and panic shop one more skein the day before the party.. Thanks to Jojo @theknittingbarber for saving the day.

First outing for the shawl was at the first ever Golden Stitch Gala. @goldenstitchgala

The most relaxing summer knitting was this #VindenSkirt designed by @hurlypurlyknits for @jarbogarn. I knit it in #knittingforolivesoftsilkmohair that I bought in Copenhagen in April. (First time ever I bought yarn and used it almost immediately! 🤭) I modified the pattern a bit and added an I-cord bind off edge in a contrasting yarn.
The resulting fabric is see through, thus this is to be used with an undergarment of some sort.

My #ainaKnitTee was a bit late to the test party. Knit in Drops Belle, I had great trouble reaching the gauge and ended up making a more cropped, oversize version. This is the relaxed tee that I'll wear when it's hot and sweaty, outside or inside. 🤭

The bind off in the pattern is quite ingenious, believe me. The pattern was released a couple of weeks ago and can be found in Ravelry, designed by @leivoknits.
