What an incredible NIGHTMARE come true to attend the Opening Reception for THE HORROR SHOW at @academymuseum last night! Kosart Studios is beyond proud to have had our screen-used work from @candymanmovie on display amongst so many iconic pieces from horror history! Thank you to our friends at @monkeypawproductions and @theacademy for making this happen! And thank you to all the talented artists at @kosartstudios who worked on this amazing film, including Key Makeup FX Artist @annacalimakeup and sculptor/fabricator @ryan.guenther.9 who attended the event with Makeup FX Department Head / Prosthetic Designer @janthonykosar! We are so honored & thrilled to share that some of our screen used work from Candyman 2021 will be on display at the Academy Museum for their upcoming exhibition The Horror Show! Opening September 26, 2026 & going through July 25, 2027 in Los Angeles.

All Special Makeup Fx including the Candyman hook were designed & created by @janthonykosar & @kosartstudios, from the skilled artists & technicians in the lab to the team of Prosthetic Makeup Artists on set.

Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom! I am so grateful for always having her help and support any time I needed it, from early school projects, to helping to remove the excess hair clippings from this severed head made at @kosartstudios before it went to set of @forcestarz! I know I got a lot of my creativity from her! Also pictured is us when we went to see the theatrical release of @himmovie with the Kosart team. One of our many kills from @himmovie featured in the latest issue of @fangoria for 2025’s BEST DEATHS IN HORROR!

The neck prosthetic pictured here was applied by @annacalimakeup & @martinasykesmakeup, designed by @janthonykosar & created by @kosartstudios. This was for a closeup shot of the actor right before his head falls off of the body.

The body was expertly created to erupt in a fountain of blood before collapsing on cue to the ground by J. Anthony Kosar & the Kosart Team which included @ryan.guenther.9 @shane_shisheboran @ethan_kamp & @hallucinationscreations.

Also pictured is @tyriqwithers in his final bloody look with prosthetics applied by @janthonykosar, @annacalimakeup & @martinasykesmakeup.

It was so great to watch my friend and mentor @tom_herzberg doing a live painting demo at @industrialtreasure this past Sunday. Tom was one of my favorite professors at the @amacademyofart. It felt just like old times again, watching him demo in class and learning watercolor painting and illustration techniques. I do miss those times. Check out @industrialtreasure in St. Charles, IL to see more of his work, among many other treasures.
