🎨 "You’re doing it all wrong. Here’s why."

Not because your lines aren’t clean, your colors aren’t perfect, or your style isn’t trending.
But because you forgot why you started!!❤️

You’re chasing algorithms instead of inspiration.
You’re painting to impress, not to express.
You’re stuck comparing brushstrokes instead of enjoying the flow.

🎨🖌️🧑🏻‍🎨

So pause. Breathe.
Pick up that brush, pencil, tablet—and create like nobody’s watching.

Because the only thing you were ever doing wrong...
was forgetting that your art already mattered—just because it’s yours.

Agree?? by @janvi_doodles

At first, I thought this was normal🥺🥺
⠀
To doubt every brushstroke🖌️
To overthink every line.
To feel like my art had to look a certain way to matter. 👩🏻‍🎨
To believe that unless it was perfect, it wasn’t worth sharing.
⠀
But then everything changed.❤️
⠀
I stopped creating for approval — and started creating for expression.
I let go of the rules and embraced the messy magic of my own style.🫶🏻🫶🏻
I stopped chasing “good” art and started making honest art🎨🎨
⠀
Now? I don’t just make art. I feel it.
And it finally feels like me.
⠀

If this speaks to you — you're not alone.
Tell me in the poll

Failure is not the opposite of success—it's part of the journey toward it✨✨✨

Every setback, misstep, or so-called "failure" teaches us something valuable. It shapes resilience, sparks creativity, and provides clarity🫶🏻

Many of the most successful people didn’t avoid failure—they embraced it, learned from it, and used it as a stepping stone✨

Success isn’t a straight line; it's built on lessons learned from what didn’t work. So don’t fear failure—fear not trying🫶🏻

Do you believe failure is essential for true success? Tell me yes or no✨✨

Stuck staring at a blank page?
Here’s what to do when you’re not sure what to draw ✨✨

Start small—doodle random shapes or lines and let your imagination take over. Look around you, objects, people, and nature can spark unexpected inspiration❤️❤️

Try drawing from a prompt, or revisit an old sketch and reimagine it. Don’t aim for perfection, just play🥰🤍

Art is a journey, not a destination. Let curiosity, not pressure, guide you!! ✨🤍

So when someone asks, “Why is it that price?”
Well you’re not just buying a bookmark—you’re supporting my spine, sanity, and slight addiction to art supplies (read gold) 😂

Support handmade. Support artists. And never underestimate the power of a well-priced piece of paper!!! Agree??

For days, I stare at the blank page, pencil in hand, like it owed me an answer.
The lines weren’t flowing. The colors didn’t speak.
Every sketch felt forced, like I was copying a voice that wasn’t mine.

Then I realized—I wasn’t creating from me.
I was chasing perfection, not expression.
Trying to impress, not to connect.

So I stopped.
I let the chaos in. The mess, the rawness, the truth.
And suddenly, the art came alive. The lines told a story I didn’t know I needed to hear.

This is what happens when you stop creating for approval—and start creating from instinct.

Has this happened to you???

How to kill an artist???

Constant Criticism Without Constructive Feedback:
Tearing down their work without offering guidance or encouragement can erode confidence and stifle creative risk-taking.

Comparing Them to Others:
Measuring their art against others' success or style diminishes their unique voice and fosters insecurity and imposter syndrome.

Dismissing Their Work as Unimportant or Impractical:
Undervaluing their passion or framing art as a "hobby" rather than real work invalidates their efforts and kills the drive to create.

Do not be afraid of making mistakes.
Fear can paralyze creativity. Mistakes are part of the artistic process and often lead to breakthroughs.

Do not over-rely on tools or technology.
Whether it’s digital filters or tracing, using them too much can hinder your personal growth and understanding of fundamentals.

Do not compare your progress to others.
Every artist has a unique path. Constant comparison can drain motivation and distort your view of success.

Unpopular opinion:

Not all art needs to be deep, sometimes, pretty is powerful enough

"This piece? It almost destroyed me"

Art isn’t always beautiful—it’s brutal, raw, and honest. Behind every stroke is a choice: to face what hurts or hide it forever.

Creating isn’t just about talent—it’s about courage.

So the next time you see a piece of art, ask yourself: what did it cost the artist to make it?"
